did you put the modem in bridge mode? try plugging computer into to the modem to see if the internet is working then add router to see if it has internet at the router. try pinging the router and the modem

You must log in with a password to make changes to your Router's settings. If you have not yet set a custom up a password, leave this field blank and click the "Submit" button.

Click the Wireless > Security link from the page menu on the left-hand side.

On the Wireless > Security page, you can retrieve your password(s) from the fields to the right of the Pre-shared Key (PSK) > entry. (in the gray box menu on left)

Uncheck the Obscure PSK box to view and retrieve your password(s). You can add a password at this point and click apply changes.

How To Reset Your Router's Password:
Resetting a router's usernameand password back to the default username and password. I thought thiswas a great question and worthy of a post. In order to get your routerback to the original settings, you must push in the reset button (usually onthe back of the router) for somewhere between 10 and 30 seconds depending onthe router. You may need a pin or something small to push in the button,because it can be recessed. Once you have reset the router, the usernameand password will be changed to the defaults, admin and password,respectively. One thing you must rememberis that resetting the router will change all of the router settings back to thefactory settings. This means you will lose all of the changes you madesince you got the router. Make sure to write down any things you'vechanged, so you can change them back after the reset. Also, I recommendupdating to the latest firmware after the reset.

Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link. http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.15.1 or http://192.168.2.1 If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it. Then it ask for user name and password. Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank. Then you can see configuration page of router. If you are still not able to access router with above ip then you need to RESET it for that press RESET button for 10 seconds it is in back side of router then all settings defaults..Then you can access it with above method. . Then click on wireless->wireless security->WEP security enter new password then save setting s and restart router. then you can connect wireless with new password. The password would be blank/admin/smcadmin by default. Blank password implies that you need to click on login without giving any input.

But, if you have set a password on your own and not able to recollect it, try resetting the router.

To reset router do this.

You will have to use a paper clip or a similar pointed object to do the reset procedure.

Hard reset: Insert the paper clip to the reset button and hold it down for 15 seconds, while the paper clip is still in unplug the power cord that goes in to the router, now wait for 15 more seconds and then give the power supply back to the router, again wait for 15 more seconds and finally let the clip go. You will see the router's LEDs flashing. If this happens it means that we have successfully completed the reset.

What you can do is hide your network name or (SSID) set it to "Do not Broadcast SSID" in your router at that point they cannot access your internet. thanks

If the router don't have any power at all this can be the following reasons, the power cable is bad so the first thing that you can for that is to try use a different power cable and check if the router will have now power, the outlet where the router is plug in is bad so try connecting the router on a different power outlet to check if that will work and then lastly the router itself is bad and there's no reset option that can correct that since its already a hardware error, so if the router is still under warranty better have it replace.

In most cases, it is best to set the router to defaults and start over.

Try hard reset Hold the reset button for a minute and while you are holding the button, also unplug the power cable from the back every 15 seconds. So, you would unplug the power 3 times and make sure, dont release the reset button even when the power is unplugged. This works for most of the SOHO routers. cheers

When you use your laptop you should be able to check for properties on the other connections, make a note on what channel they are on.

go to your wireless router and change the channel that it is broadcasting on to something different. ( ie 6 ) also check that your router is not close to dect phones as they can ruin your signal as well

It may be something to do with interferance within your own home, or if you are running broadband through a BT line, you may be towards the further part of the exchange and therefore your broadband signal drops when other users come online. A basic line has a ratio of 50:1 meaning 50 other users can be sharing the same connection as you.

Make sure mobile phones, cordless phones, microwaves etc are out of the way of the connection and if all else fails contact your ISP.
