The mouse goes asleep after 8 minutes of non-use to save battery life. When asleep all you need to do is hit a button to wake it.

The driver may be conflicting with another wireless device.

You can alter the double click setting by going to Control Panel - Mouse and move the slider for the Double click setting to the left to slow down the click response.
