Volume control knob broken on
This cannot be fixed any way other than repairing the knob or short circuiting the contacts where the potentiometer used to be (not recommended) as your volume will be on full all the time although you could use windows to software turn it down. because if you are going to do that, it wouldnt be much more work to replace the knob.

The screen lights but the desktop never appears.
Try the soft reset. By removing the battery and power plug.
Press the ESC or F1 key for 10 seconds without removing your finger to the ESC or F1 plug the power back in.
Then when it powers up remove your finger to the ESC or F1 key.
This will reset your laptop and check the hardware problems.

My Toshiba m45-s2692 laptop will powerup and then
Could be bad battery, bad power supply, bad hard drive, bad RAM. Bad Video card. Try just with only the Power Adapter. If that works then the battery is no good. If that doesn't work, try removing one of the RAM Modules if two, and swap them about. Simply remove each of the perifrials one by one, until it at least stay on... Removal of hard drive will at least allow the unit to boot & say no boot media, would indicate a faulty Hard Drive, remove the DVD & slide it out, most of the things are secured underneath by a couple of screws or a latch.

Idownload windows7 ultimat and ineed audio
Unfortunately, your laptop model is older than 2007 and Toshiba does not offer Windows Seven support for models older than that. Also, the factory specs of your laptop say that you have 512 MB RAM. Therefore, I strongly discourage the use of Windows Seven on your laptop since the minimum required memory is 1GB -> unless, of course, you've upgraded your RAM memory.
In conclusion, it will be very difficult to find a suitable Windows Seven audio driver - your only choice is to find a newer laptop model (newer than 2007) that has the same audio device as you do and install its driver. I searched for one for over an hour now, but still, no luck.

Cannot get wireless signal
Make sure you wireless in enable both on your network connections and also if you have a button or switch somewhere on your laptop, make sure that's on. If this fails you may want to check your wireless card that its correctly plug in to the wires.
