The light engine part number is 234054 and cost $456.00

Thanks Denis39 but the problem I have is not the light ,but the light engine. they are $456.00 on parts. com, however they are on back order(wonder why?) Can't seem to locate one any cheaper. Its another$189.00 dollars to have it installed. Anyone know where I can get one cheaper let me know Thanks

Whites are yellow can be a convergence or color balance problem, and lamp going out could also be a bad ballast board, black spots are usually light engine, could be a different fault on DMD board.

The fact is that when you get all this symptom together unavoidably you have a faulty light engine.

The light engine is the most expensive part to replace, its price for this model is always over $1600 ( I know, keep the heart tablets at hand).

The issue is with the color wheel but you have to replace the engine inorder to get one. The cost would exceed the value.

that sounds like a typican lamp going out.. (needs a lamp every 3000-6000 hours of viewing)

You won't be able to replace just the motor. And, its true that Toshiba has not seen fit to offer this part independently from the light engine assy. Try checking with PTS in Indiana. They may be able to fix your old wheel or sell you a rebuilt one.

You made sure to close the access door when you got done, right? It won't come on if the door is left open.

Hi, I am an idependant service engineer, who is currently looking at one of these actually a 36 inch 36zt29b. So far, it looks likely the digital board is at fault sending an 'off' signal to the digital power board. The digital board itself is no longer available. I am going to have a look at this board, and try to fault find it. If I have any success I will post again.

If your having pixelation,try disconnecting other tvs
from the wall.you may have a noise or DB drop off or surge issues.check all splitters from the tube to the soffit of your home.If you find one upside down out side ,water maybe be getting in.Remove all snap adapaptors,screw on only.Splltters are
cheap,,easy way is spend $3 extra a month to have your cable Co repair or replace any seeping cables or adaptors and/or splitters.

This is indeed a very common problem with the Toshiba products. The reason I asked about the time is that the television bulbs are estimated to last on average 4,000 viewed hours, which you are only coming up short of 50%.

Toshiba is offering an extended warranty free on the product that does cover the bulb replacement.

After researching your particular make and model, I have found that the average span for a bulb is indeed 9-12 months. Beyond this extended warrant, Toshiba is offering no further assistance, and will only replace it once. They have also been having issues with the color wheel going out at an average cost of $750.00 which under warranty they will replace one time only.

There is nothing you can do beyond replacing the lamps, however my suggestion would be to replace the television itself, and stay away from Toshiba.

Probably the colour wheel needs to be replaced. You must have a qualified TV tech to perform the repair.

Usualy these problems are due to solder evaporating under the heat of the component.If you are a competent technician,by opening the tv set and by looking closely on the solder part of the board,
you should see a few that are not as shiny as the other, or look like a donut around the pin.these should be redone.those failiure are around the components that heat up:voltage reg,h-v reg and the
resistor around them.

does this shadow go from top to bottom on the left or right side app 1" to 2" wide ? if so your light engine needs to be replaced

Your TV needs a new lamp. We have had our TV for 3 yrs and every year without fail, we have had to replace the lamp. Its getting old at this point because our warranty is about to run out and that means we will be paying around $170 a year to replace the lamp. I wouldnt buy this TV again.....

my 46HM95 was humming also, I have the extended warranty and the company came out and diagnosed it as the light engine. the part was backordered and it was just fixed today, it was ordered back in February. Problem was solved.

if you have checked it by changing the lamp then there you will see a thin peice of coloured plastic (colour wheel). Vacuum that plastic and all around it but dear plz dont touch that one.
