you can try free program called glary utilities. It can undelete files (Privacy&Security --> File Undelete --> select drive where you deleted files, with a litle luck there are your files )
It won't turn on
I have the same player with the same problem. I partially fixed my player by re-soldering the positive battery terminal. Turns out there was a cold solder joint there. I suspect that there is at least one more cold joint so I'm going to take another look at it to see if I can "fix" it once and for all.
Can u please answer my coby mpc-854 512mb problem
I have issues every time I remove the battery. Under settings there is an option for USB mode. The default mode does not seem to recognize the device as a file storage device. Try the other USB option and you may have more luck (Again, the USB option is found on the MPC player, not on thecomputer)

Your batteries may be dead, the coil that it (the battery) attaches to sometimes gets bent out of the way, so try turning that back.
Coby mp3 player
plug it into your computers usb port (or via cable if required).
go to my computer and you should see a new icon (possibly D: drive or removable drive)
open that.
the will either be a list of all the music or a folder to go to with the music in it.
select each song (one left click of mouse) or songs by dragging the mouse with left button down and then delete them (right click and choose delete).
do a happy dance.

It wont do it
If your mp3 player came with a cd be sure you installed whatever was on it onto your computer it may have had drivers for your mp3 player to run properly. Read the instructions you got with to see if you can figure anything out. Make sure you have the latest update of windows media player. If this doesnt work check to make sure that the battery is charged or if you look in the manual that came with it see if you can find a support number.
What is an I/O device error?
I/O refers to input/output, meaning USB items as well as anything else "plugged" into the computer. Usually just referring to USB though.
Try using a different port, although that usually isn't the problem.
If that fails to work, try pulling the player out, then reinserting it, sometimes the computer fails to recognize the item. When you put it in, if you are using a Windows operating system, go to My Computer, and wait for it to recognize the player.
You may have to go into the system BIOS/CMOS, and turn on PnP(Plug and Play) capabilities if they are not enabled.
If none of these work, you may have a defective player or perhaps bad USB ports. I'll try to find more info on it if I can.
