Magnavox dv220mw9 the vcr player won't play

Someone will have to open the unit to see what is happening---either tape is not loading all the way or when FF or Rewind hit not moving the reels----could be as simple as a belt or a bad drive idler (most use either a rubber wheel or gears to move the tape in Play, FF, and Rewind.

Recorded GoVideo DVD-R will NOT play in any other DVD player

most dvd players have a region code and you must know what code yours is in, oryou can't play any dvd's, try and find your dvd code,by the way you can only change the code ,think it is 5 times , then it will stay in that code and cannot be changed.

The power button comes on-from red to green, It

From your description it is processor controller ic issue, remove the power supply cord from the receptacle and any other cords that are tied to the machine for at least 30 minutes to see if the processor can be set. If this fails it is more cost effective to buy new rather than trying to repair the combo unit.

I have a vr4940.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Locate your DVD player’s manual Eject button. It is usually a small hole located underneath the DVD drawer.

Insert a stiff wire—such as a paperclip or safety pin—into the hole. Push gently and the drawer should open partway. Gently pull the drawer the rest of the way open.

Remove the DVD and see if there is a problem with it. Most DVD player drawers get stuck when a DVD is warped or the label is starting to peel. If the DVD is warped, discard it. If the label is peeling, remove the label.

Steps to open the DVD player top to remove the CD/DVD manually--

  • Unplug the DVD player and take the outer casing of the DVD player off. This entails either taking out two or three screws or simply sliding one of the pieces of plastic in either direction.

  • Locate the disc loader cover. The disc loader cover is located where the extending DVD tray finally comes to rest within the DVD player. It’s the part that holds the DVD loader in place.

  • Bend the two tabs outward that hold the loader in place. This is a delicate procedure because you don’t want to hurt the device. The tabs are relatively easy to break since they're plastic in most cases.

  • Slide the disc tray out. If your disc got stuck before it was read, it's probably still on this tray. If so, your problem is solved. However, if the disc was fully set and loaded, the job isn’t quite finished yet.

  • Move the small mechanical arm that holds the disc in place over so that the disc and the reader are both exposed. Some DVD players will not have anything holding the disc in place. Instead, these devices use a system not unlike that of a common DVD case. The DVD will be locked in place in the center.

  • Carefully lift the disc up and out of its loaded position in the DVD player. This may entail sliding the disc reading mechanism over slightly. This won't hurt the device as long as you’re careful. You should be able to access and remove the disc.

Points to remember while performing above steps---

n Before you remove the DVD player cover, try turning the device off and then back on to see if the disc will come out after the machine has rebooted.
n Use the opportunity while you have the outer casing off to clean the lens of your DVD player.
n Never work on an electrical device that's still plugged in.
n Opening a DVD player may negate the warranty. Read yours carefully before you proceed.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved else revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

VCR plays audio but no video

audio heads and video heads are seperate on VCR"s.....the video head might be extremely dirty and not able to pick up information from the tape..this requires major cleaning...manually..not with cleaning tapes....the guides might need to be re-adjusted..mechanically....or worst case is the little ferrite beads of the pick up heads on the video cylinder are no longer there, have broken off. in any case, the machine needs to be opened for service....cleaning the heads manually, you can do yourself with some paper such as note pad paper and acetone. acetone cleans very well, you spin the cylinder by hand while holding the acetone soaked paper against the heads. you might need to repeat this a few times with fresh paper depending on how much dirt comes off....good luck

How do you use the

The Go Video VR 4940 can only record to DVD -R and DVD -RW discs. It cannot record to +R or +RW discs. It can play back many types of discs, but can only record to the -R and -RW ones.
