Where is the power fuse
You can find links to helpful exploded view diagrams and part ordering help
here.
I recommend that you bookmark that link to your favorites.Running the oven empty will overheat the magnetron. It may just be a failed magnetron thermal cutout (also called a thermostat or TCO) or the magnetron itself may be destroyed.
Not heating items
It sounds like the magnetron may have
either failed or is not being supplied with the extremely high
voltage required to run it.
YOUR
SAFETY IS PARAMOUNT
This is a job for a professional but if
you are safety clued up, here's instruction.
Make sure the
!!!!capacitor is discharged!!!!! before attempting any
sort of repair.
Check the door interlock switches first then the
high voltage diode with either an AVO model 8 or moving coil meter on
high resistance range for short circuit, (DVM's won't show the
fault!), the capacitor can fail and go short circuit, the feed fuse
on the primary of the high voltage transformer and then finally, the
magnetron is best checked by substitution.
Hope that helps.
Load
test.
A
simple safety test.
Place 1/2 litre of water in a glass container.
Measure the temperature of the water.
Place in microwave and heat
on full power for 1minute.
Measure the temperature after it has
stood for 1minute.
If the temperature difference is more than 9
degrees Celcuis the magnetron is working and producing about 700Watts
of heat.
If your microwave is labelled with 900 or 1000Watts. That
is about right.
If the temperature is less then the magnetron is
not working properly and may need replacing.
This
a only a rough guide and any doubts you should consult an authorised
service agent.

Discrepancies
remove the outer cover and unplug unit, then discharge the high voltage capacitor and check its capacitance with a capacitor checker, then check the high voltage diode in this circuit also,if they open up the high voltage doubler circuit won't produce the high voltage necessary to operate the magnetron tube to heat the food contents, also the magnetron can be going bad or can be loose setting up a vibration in the unit producing the hum also, your control board also has a relay in this unit that can also affect operation of unit heating and lighting
Maytag microwave suddenly died after 20 seconds of
Replacr the internal fuse you will find when you remove the cabinet. It will be near where the cord enters the cabinet. It is a special fuse ... get a replacement at most hardware of appliance parts stores.
Power comes on but at the end of the cycle nothing
Please check the door safety interlock switches. These are the micro switches inside the case that tell the oven the door is closed. When you open the door while the oven is running, there is an arc on the contacts in the switches and they burn a little. After a while, the switches are no longer able to report the door is closed. When the door is not closed, the heat is not turned on. Forget what you know about the door being closed.
Check the switches.

Maytag mmv5000bdw Touch panel works intermittently
If nothing works, it sounds like you didn't get the cable inserted properly. It should fit into a connector which carries signals to the microwave's control components. These connectors usually pullup, you insert the cable, and push the connector back down.
