The ring if I understand right is the hub that's pressed on the motor shaft. The solution is to replace the hub/motor assembly because of it's very critical distance of the hub on the motor shaft it's best with the factory replacement complete like that. technician:Tim Rasch

I have suffered the same problems as you describe here. What I believe is this unit suffers from inadequate ventilation. After having this problem I examined the unit and noticed it was hot. What I've done is put 2 small flat blocks on each side of the unit, to basically suspend it so that it can get airflow under and over it, now staying much cooler. Nearly all problems now have gone away. Seldomly, I find it will still exibit the problems mentioned. Frankly the only solution I've found from there is to unplug it for a short while and, upon plugging it back in, and trying again it works flawlessly.

THe default for our ilo dvd recorder was 1369 - not sure wat model it was - mayb its the same for them all?

try cleaning the lens.

This product is known for freezing up. You can get it fixed but it will cost more than you paid for the machine. Best advice, throw it away and buy a name brand recorder. The company will stand behind their products instead of dodging their responsibility of making a decent machine and ripping everyone off. I learned the hard way too, and yes, it hurts the pride.

Wow Calm down now please before you pop a vein. lol Ok have you tryed the obvious yet? Like cleaning the lens off with a lens cleaner? Sometimes you need to take off the top and clean it lightly with a cue tip and alittle JUST a dab of alcohol to get a film or dirt off the lens . Then make sure you let it dry well. if that dosent help then with the top off, try another disc and se if it spins?? No movement. Could be a bad laser assy or an adjustment of the tracking or focus gain. if it spins then that means it focused but not reading the disc properly.
