I saw a device that hooks to the computer that allows you to input media from a player (VCR or DVD) to the computer but nothing that works the other way around. What is it you're trying to do?

If you are copying home movies use the av outputs from the vcr to the av inputs of the vcr, then the av outputs of the ILO to the tv - while recording from your tapes. I read somewhere if it is macrovision protected you can bypass it by using the coax out from your vcr to the Antenna in on the ILO and then pick up that signal in your TUNER of the ILO. I have had good success with both, I prefer the av if I can get that to work, better picture, but sometimes it won't record that way, esp old tapes, so try the ant in (coax) if the av doesn't work. Use + R discs or +RW discs (sony brand is the best +R but it doesn't matter on the +RW's)

try cleaning the laser either manually by taking off the top cover then using a wet q tip then a dry q tip to abrorb excess moisture, or buy a laser cleaning disc imo is that manually is more beneficial

My manual says that the MASTER passwordis 1369. You might try resetting the password using this in the current box. I have read of others having trouble with the audio. check and see if other settings got changed. pg 25 of manual says have disc in unit, access the setup menu and try the user default. Also supposed to be a help section in the setup menu. Hope this helps.

Do the discs play okay in other dvd players? If not, perhaps the unit is getting hot during recording? Mine has to have ample space around it in order to not mess up.

I read about some magnetic thing failing as the unit gets older. Mine does this sometimes and I gently tap top of unit as I hit the eject button. Works on mine so far.

I have my television outputs connected to the inputs on the ILO. I then select that set of inputs with the SOURCE button rather then using the built in tuner. Make sure you connect the Video closest to the audio inputs(or... least confusing, try the three front inputs) Hook antenna to tv

To reset to user defaults for mu1 with no video: 1. turn on dvd with no disc 2. press "setup" 3. press "down arrow" 3 times 4. press "enter" 5. press "down arrow" 9 times 6. press "enter" More than likely you changed from interlaced scan to progressive scan. If your tv does not sopport progressive scan there will be no video. The default setting is interlaced scan.

When you put in a new disk it will ask you to format, yes or no. Click yes and wait. Use only +R or +RW's. Sony is best. Maybe its the disks you are using. This machine is REALLY PICKY!

Just run your outputs from your cable to the ILO inputs, then your ilo ouputs to the tv inputs. Use Cable remote to control channels, use ILO source button on remote to access the correct input setting on ILO. AND YES< you have to do this EVERY TIME you turn the ILO on to watch tv.. I have mine hooked up this way to record from my convertor box and My husband hates it.(when he just wants to watch tv.)

Clock always stays on...the ZU even counts the seconds.

If you hook up using the tuner in ILO you will lose digital signal to the HDTV (it will still go thru but only as analog) so... Use a splitter from the antenna coax to the "antenna in", then you can hook Ilo output to the tv inputs. You can watch/record analog through the ILO and still switch back digital non recording on HDTV thru its own separate tuner. Hook up the dvd player outputs to the ILO inputs(use the front ones is easiest) and then select SOURCE, pick corresponding inputs and enter. You can watch/record from other dvds that way but not from copyrighted ones, It will say protected content. I would only hook up dvd player temporarily to record from dvd player, then to watch dvd's just hook it up to HDTV. If you can select progressive scan on player to HD it might be even better picture but I don't have HDTV so I'm not sure how that works. Unless somebody out there has the files copied there is no way to get the firmware.

Same problem and I'm seeing two obviously bad capacitors on the power supply card on mine, a 2200 uf and a 1000 uf. I'm thinking that's the problem, though I haven't tried replacing yet.

Try unplugging unit, wait then plug in and try. That may reset it. If using S video maybe you should try using the reg video input and see if that helps

Almost no universal controls work on this unit. I only have found one out of dozens. Its a philips, code is 1906 but I tried it on other remotes and it doesn't work on them. Calling Leapfrog is probably your best bet.
