Hey,I have the same problem and I found this fix in a service manual. It worked, but my tape motor adjustment is off. So be carefull.The 3v dc is easy to make, connect 2 batteries 1.5v in serial, you get 3V dc.Let me know how it goed.

If you are trying to capture footage from the tape you will need to connect with a firewire cable. USB will only connect to the storage card, usually assigned for still photos.

If your selection to playback - mode to play back is selected- is correct then it is possible that the head is clogged with dirt and so the images were not recorded.
Insert an old recorded tape into the player and see if the camcorder plays. use the external video/audio output to be connect to your TV to confirm.
If so the head is clogged, have the head cleaned with a tape cleaner or very gently on the head tips on the drum taking care not to force and damage the delicate head ferrite tips.

Be sure to follow these instructions and let me know:

1- Set the camera on playback.
2- Push up or down the "Push" button and pressing on it and turn it up or down. You will see a speaker with a gradual degrees that indicate how hi or low the volume is.
3- Let me know.

Have you connected the 3.5mm stereo jack plug into the audio in on the PC the S Video cable only sends the component video signals {C Color (Chrominance) and Y Intensity (Luminance)} the audio is a separate connector

Either the dew sensor is defective or there is some condensation inside the unit. Try opening up the unit and pointing a hair dryer at it from about 12" away (enough to blow warm air inside the unit, not hot air). Let that run for about 10-15 minutes and try the unit again. If it continues to fail, than the dew sensor needs to be replaced. This repair shoold be done by a repair shop as cameras are not the easiest to work on.
