Bobbin thread picks up when there is no fabric in machine,as soon as i put fabric under the foot it skips stitches or doesn't catch at all. have changed needles, re threaded and adjusted timing.

Hi, I have run into this problem on newer light weight machines. Remove the nose cover and look for thread wrap in the upper tension control, even a small piece of fluff can keep the discs from closing when you drop the presser foot. Try not to disassemble the upper tension control because they can be tricky to get back together. Check around the slack arm, thread will wrap-up at the pivot. Good luck.

I have a singer 2639

Do you have a manual?
YOu can get a free manual from the Singer site.
http://www.singerco.com/accessories/manuals.html
Just type in 2639 and click on search.
On the next page choose the free download option.
Looking at diagrams in the manual, I think you have to remove the accessories case to gain access to the feed dog control.
Hope this helps!

Need to adjust feed dog height on a singer protoge

there should be a small set screw under the cover where you feed the bottom bobbin at. if you turn it right, it will tighten, and should raise it.just remember how many times you have turned the screw.

The thread is looping and bunching up under the

It is a problem in your top threading, you may have tangled thread, or need a new needle. Try this test when you have rethreaded with the presser foot up, pull thread, it should feed smoothly, now lower presser foot, pull thread, it should barely move. This will seat your thread in the tension discs and hopefully you will have no more problems
