Why is my singer SEWING MACHINE prelude HAND WHEEL RESISTING

Make sure the bobbin winder is in the position away from the bobbin stopper. When you fill a bobbin, you have to push the "spindle" towards the handwheel. If you do not push the "spindle" back into position (away from the handwheel), the wheel will remain locked.

After stitching few stitches my machine snger 8280 get jammed

Not being there, I have to guess, but my guess is, your bobbin case is not set in properly, or you have a badly wound bobbin that's causing the jamming. Another possibility is you have threads wrapped around the tension unit on the inside.

After sewing a few stitches, the machine gets jammed. the top stitch looks fine, but underneath there's a ton of thread all bunched up (top spool thread)

What you are seeing is called "bird's nesting." There are two main reasons for "bird's nesting." The first one is the thread not between the tension disks. That allows the thread to be pulled from the spool instead of pulling the thread tight from underneath. Always make sure to always put up your presser foot before you thread the tension disks. I also check the thread after I finish to make sure the top thread has good tension on it before sewing. The second reason is the thread is not being pulled by the take up lever. Make sure you see it being pulled by the take up lever before you start sewing. If not, rethread it. Good luck.

Model 8280 Bobbin stuck at the bobbin winder. It simply won't budge

drop of WD 40 into bobbin and hair dryer worm it up - it will expand with heat a little - to free the bobbin off the stem. Check for correct size bobbin next time.

Top thread breaking especially when machine in

try this
The machine is not threaded correctly--rethread the machine
The thread tension is to tight--reduce the thread tension (lower number)
The thread is to thick for the needle--select a larger needle
The needle is not inserted correctly--remove needle & reinsert the needle (flat side toward the back)
The thread could be wound around the spool pin
The needle is damaged--replace
Some needles & thread are not compatible--try this

Cut 6-8 inch piece of thread of the spool you are going to use for your project
Take the needle you are going to use for the project
& insert the thread thru the eye of the needle
& lift one end of the thread to a 45 degree angle
& if the needle is the right size for the thread it will slide down the thread
But if the needle hangs on the thread you need one size larger needle for the thread

Which is a better machine

I don't know which features you are looking for but these are very basic machines, I think that I would go for a better model than either of these. I bought a Singer Stylist 7258 for $200 from JoAnn Fabrics and got a free lesson on it, plus lots of tips on usage. I really prefer to buy from people who know machines as opposed to big box stores because you can get help when you have a question. Sometimes going to a better model is well worth the extra because you cannot upgrade a cheap machine to a better one and if you buy one with some easy features you will sew more, with no frustration even if you have to put it on lay away to be able to afford it and pay a little each week.

Top thread tangled in bobbin.

try changing the needle---flat side goes to the back side of the machinealso check the top tensiondepending on the fabric your sewing on--the needle & thread have to work with the fabric--example light fabric needs a different needle & thread than a heavy fabriccheck to see if the thread is coming off the thread take up lever when you sew.

After replacing the needle in my singer 8280, the needle clamp is not holding the needle tight, the needle falls down even after tighening it..how do i make the needle get fixed?

It sounds like you have lost the tread guide. When you press the clamp as far up as it will go, there should be a slot in the post underneath the clamp visible. You may need to use a mirror to see it. The thread guide snaps into that slot and keeps the clamp from falling down. Take it to any repair shop. It will not be expensive to repair.

My singer machine keeps disaligning. I put a new needle in and when coming down it dosen't go into the hole. Even if I activlly hold it in place and it goes in once as soon as I let go it goes

If you are pulling the arm towards you or pushing away from you then you will need to have the needle arm adjusted. Pushing and pulling of the arm will only cause damage. Many times this needs to be adjusted due to the constant movement of the machine. There is usually material on the Youtube to explain how to adjust needle arm.

Why does the fabric not pull through

There are a couple of reasons for that. The first could be that your feed dogs are not up. It could also mean--if you can adjust the presser foot pressure--that your presser foot pressure needs to be increased. If your feed dogs are not up, and you set the dial/lever/button to put it up, you will STILL need to turn the wheel TOWARDS you (ALWAYS towards you) at least one or two times until it snaps up--you'll hear it click. It does not raise when you first set it up on ANY machine or any manufacturer.

Is it safe to use WD40 oil to lubricate my singer

Hi. No, don't use WD40 oil to lubricate your Singer. Use sewing machine oil--it's a whole different breed of animal than WD40 and won't hurt your machine. You can easily find sewing machine oil at Jo-ann's, Hancock's, or any other local fabric and/or craft store. It's not expensive, but repairing the insides of a machine gummed up from WD40 IS!

Good luck and let me know how this works.
