This will need to be serviced. LG has a 5 year warranty on these models. They usually will tell you of a service center nearby which will service it free of charge since it is under warranty. If you do not live near a service center they may ship you a replacement and you send your old dehumidifier back to them. Make sure you have your reciept when you contact them so they can verify it is under 5 years old.

I think you are referring to a humidistat, not that thing the the doctors use to clamp off a vein to stop the bleeding which they call a hemostat. I also think you are looking for a part number 6877A30013L which LG calls a sensor assembly. Before replacing it, you could try just blowing out the sensor end to remove any accumulated dust, which may solve your problem.

Motor runs, but no water in collecting pan. also

There are 5 basic, but solvable reason for what you described. Please pay particular attention to numbers 1 & 2.

1. The humidity extraction level is set to HIGH. Lower it to 32-35%.

2. Air intake filter is dirty or clogged. Turn unit OFF, & Unplug the
Unit, before removing to inspect & clean it, if necessary. If washed,
allow filter to completely dry before reinstalling. DO NOT operate
the unit without the filter.

3. Obstructed air flow. Maintain a minimum of 12 to 18" of clear air
space around the entire unit.

4. Cooling coils are dirty and need to be cleaned. Use warm water & dish washing liquid to
clean the coils. Rinse and wipe dry. Apply a light coating of WD40 to the coils.

5. Ambient air temperature at floor level is between 40 - 60 degrees.
dehumidifiers do not work well between those temperatures
(Unless, you have a Low Temp Unit). This applies mainly to
where the air temperature at floor level is colder than at shoulder
level
in basement applications. Raising the unit up off the floor,
onto a sturdy table, counter top, etc, that can handle the weight
of the unit, plus a full tank of water, will usually resolve this
problem.

If none of the above solves the problem, it may be a case of the compressor needs to be recharged with refrigerant gas or that the humidity condenser sensor has failed. These things usually occur in units that are 5 years old or older. It's rare in a unit younger than that. But, it can happen.

I hope this helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

Hi,
Yes the heat is a byproduct of the compressor running....there will be a slight overall heat gain...this is very normal and nothing to be concerned about....the dehumidifier passes the air over a cold coil to pull out the moisture but also discharges the heat into the room...so... the net result is heat gain in the amount of electrical energy the dehumidifier is using...

Fan does not work

Shut the power off to the unit, spin the fan blade to see if it spins freely. If it doesn't spin freely, (there appears to be a little drag when you spin it),the bearings are bad, if it does spin freely, then try moving the motor shaft from side to side if there’s any play in the shaft side to side then the bearings are worn and motor needs replaced. Then, check the capacitor, if it’s bulging even slightly, the capacitor is bad and needs replaced. Most of the time people replace the capacitor if motor seems ok. If capacitor is ok, turn power on to see if the motor is getting the proper voltage, if it is and not trying to run, then the windings are probably open, the motor's bad and needs replaced.

Compressor is noisey

Are you sure it is the compressor and not the condenser fan? Check the compressor vibration mounts to be sure they are OK. Feel the in and out lines of the compressor (be careful) the out should be almost to hot to hold and the in should be cool to cold. If this is true then the probable solution is to replace the compressor.
Good Luck,
