had a power outage and it said to reset the clock I went some where and changed the close caption from off to on. It was a in a set up menu

Sounds like the color wheel has gone bad and needs to be replaced. This is located behind the back panel.

CHeck on the comcast box- you may have to turn off (POWER) then click (SELECT)select button to get into the user interface , there you may see that closed catptioning is off, turn it on and it should work.

it seems like there is a problem with your LCD screen you will need to get it replaced and your tv should work ok.

Go to your TV settings and change the "Zoom" function (not sure if LG has same terminology as my Sony) - you can flip through different options until you get to the setup that does not "stretch" the picture to fit the screen - if certain shows are filmed in 4:3 format (or square), they will need to be displayed with two black bars on either side (letterbox) on a widescreen set so the image is not distorted or stretched.

this problem is with the inner small micro-swtches ,the side buttons inside are getting intermittantely short...changing of those switches will solve the prob. tc--

the captions are on in the dvr cable box. you cable guy can emter the menu on the box and turn it off. Some boxes will allow you access by pushing the power button on the box while tv is on then immediately pushing the menu button but be careful.

Press the menu button on the LG remote. If you see the line affecting the menu, then the LCD panel needs to be replaced. If not then you have a signal issue.

Replace the main pcb

The CC are on in you DVR. Call the cable compaany and have them come out and trun them off. It is a menu in the DVR that a cable tech can acess to do this. Not sure if it can be dine remtely.

Perhaps your remote is set to video recorder?  Try that first, and if no response, try calling up a menu on your TV and look for the Picture Settings.

i got the same model tv, and had the same problem..call direct tv and tell them you just got the new polaroid tv...i take it you got it at wallmart......anyway,call them up and tell them you want them to send you a updated remote...since the tv is so new,(came out in october of 08)...your older remote doesnt have the new code for it.

Hi, can you see the menus etc?

If not, then I had a similar problem that I posted. I recently got an engineer to look at my TV and they had to replace the main circuit board.

Once they replaced it, everything was fine again, but unfortunately the part alone cost me around £250 ($500) and then there were labour charges on top of this.

LG parts are very expensive apparently.

The overcurrent circuit is working as it should. You will have to have this set serviced by a qualified techniciam.
