Pentax Optio A10 Digital Camera - Page 6 Questions & Answers
It does not work !
Here are some troubleshooting steps that you can try that may correct your problem. Recommend starting with Fix 1 (new battery). If the camera is out of warranty (or repair cost approaches that of the camera), they're worth a try. Some of the later steps do involve some risk to the camera, so carefully weigh your options before deciding to conduct them:

What model Pentax camera? What type and size memory card? Does the camera show an error message? If so, what does it say?
Download from camera to computer
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as
Picasa.
Camera only works when charger is plugged into it, the battery is showing 3.4 volts of charge, is the camera at fault and can it be fixed cheaply?
If the rechargeable battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles and will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% and gradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR The battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the battery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced. Rechargeable batteries will fail if stored in a discharged state for long periods.
Pictures will no longer upload to my pc
ALTERNATE WAY TO TRANSFER PHOTOS TO COMPUTERIf your photos are stored on the memory card, then removethe memory card from the camera and insert it into an USB memory card reader.Connect this USB memory card reader and memory card into the USB port of yourworking computer. Your computer will see this as an USB Mass Storage Device oran external storage device; you can then open the folder on the memory card andcopy the photos to your computer.Memory card reader is a handy device and is inexpensive. Youcan copy photos from other cameras and you can also download photos off yourmemory card to someone else's computer without the need of installing anyprograms.
How to unlock samsung A 502 card
SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

Hmmmm.....this sounds to me like the sensor is damaged (and is likely more expensive to fix than to buy a new camera at this point that would have features that far exceed your M20). One question though: did you try to do a "hard reset" of the firmware? This fixed another issue on battery drain for me. It's like rebooting your computer. Put in fresh batteries, then hold down the power and menu button at the same time until the camera resets (at least that's how it works on my M30). It may reset the problem with the sensor (only guessing). If that doesn't work, I think it's time for a new camera. Good luck!
Why isn't my K100D Flash not working?
Hi,
please ensure that you've not used the camera for more than the advised amount of time by the manufacturer. Also, you can attempt to use the same brand/type of batteries as was including with your camera when you got it. Some manufacturers put internal fimware/software restrictions on their devices. For printers, this would be done for cartridges and in the case of your camera, it would be for batteries.
Lastly, I would check that your sd card isn't full before calling Pentax to refer you to a repair shop.
Thank you.
Pentax Espio 60S "E2" error
Hi for anyone reading this! My 60s was just flashing with this but I fixed it. Took the batteries out, swapped them and that didn't work. Tried to put the old ones back in a few minutes later and then it was fine! Just fiddle around with it. Hope this helps.
