Some newer high efficiency units using variable speed DC motors are designed to maintain a temp and wonrt shut off by design. Does it maintain a temp you desire ? It may be normal hard teling without seeing it.

there may be a safety switch failing which is getting to hot with cover on or shorted wire.

This unit uses a dual run capacitor. There is no start capacitor involved.The dual run capacitor is possible weak, also check all the electrical connections for tight fitting connections with can cause motor/compressor overheating. To test a capacitor properly you need the proper test meter capable of reading uf readings(within 6% of the stated rating on the capacitor) "C" common to "F" fan and "C" to "Herm" terminal, the higher rating for compressor and the lower for the outdoor fan. [(example= 25/3uf 370v) 25uf=compressor, 3uf=fan motor.]

Hello, these fuses are 3-5 amp and can be purchased at a heating and cooling supply store or hardware store.

The draft fan is supposed to come on then the ignitor comes on then after 30 seconds the burners supposed to ignite. At that point you should check and see if voltage is being sent to the gas valve solenoid. If you getting volts there with the glowbar on then you need a new gas valve unless you forgot to pay the gas bill. Check and see if you are getting power to the gas valve. If you are then your gas valve solenoid is probably out and you gonna need to replace the valve. If you ain't getting power you need to see if your board is putting out voltage to the valve. HVAC for beginners has a great video. Most new digital thermostats are design to run with battery or A/C power, unless the A/C power is connected to the thermostat via a connection to the common "C" connection to the furnace common the thermostat defaults to battery operation and that is normal. Batterys last from 3 to 5 years in the average thermostat.

Sounds like an old furnace, turn off the gas should not effect the dryer, soulnd like the dryer has it's own problems.

Does heater gas line have a drip leg on it?

What is the model and age?

Check short for thermostat, disconnect all thermostat wiring and then try jumping the R&W to see if the fuse holds. If it holds then it is in the wiring or thermostat.

the ignition system may have a broken igniter or plugged gas orifice if the ignitor is working.

the gas orifices are possible clogged and the burners are dirty and should be removed and cleaned.

Have you check your flue piping for a restriction?
