Hello. Own a USB Flash

you dont want to install your usb??why not why do you have it then???

click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll down universal serial bus controllers you could see a yellow question mark?

right click to reinstall drivers

if you can see your usb drive but its not working

ports(com&lpt)right click update driver if this fails to fix the problem

check the USB leads that attach to the motherboard usually red white green black make sure they are securely seated and have no dust build up on them dust will cause static and a lot of unforeseen problems for a computer and its parts:

click start control panel administrive tools ,computer management ,device manager look through all of your devices if you see a yellow question mark?or exclamation mark ! or red x

right click to reinstall drivers

if your computer came with a motherboard disk the drivers could be on it or it might aotomatically find the drivers itself

hope this helps

You will only be able to use this flash drive if you have the password.

Verbatim Store 'n go 8GB

My first question is: what platform (PC or MacIntosh) are these two laptops?
Secondly, are both laptops using the same operating system?

Your Verbatim drive should be formatted to be compatible with the operating systems being used.

I certainly wouldn't throw it away... but you might not be able to retrieve the files that are on it.

Try inserting it into one of your laptops. Does it show up? Try the other laptop. Does it show up?
If "yes" on either laptop, try opening it, or clicking on it & trying to get information on it. That will give you some clues.

  • If you're running Apple OSX, you can open "Disk Utility" and view it, repair it, or reformat it. It's pretty straight-forward.
  • If you're running Windows, you can click on "My Computer", then click on "Manage" in the Explorer window. Open the "Device Manager" and click on the "Disk Drives" tab. Do you see it? If so, right-click on it, and then select "Properties". Then click on the "Policies" tab & select "Optimize for Performance", then select "OK". Click on "My Computer", select "FAT32", then "OK".
If you did this correctly, you thumb drive should now work on all Windows operating systems.

My anti virus detected the exe file as a danger

You are LUCKY that you only have 8GB of data to restore. Very likely, there actually WAS a virus that had transferred to the Verbatim drive. Find and purchase a DATA restoration software from a reputable website like CNET.com IF your data is worth the COST to restore it. These software are in the $60 to $200 range but work VERY WELL. Once you retain your old files, reformat your 8 GB drive to use it FRESH again! Best of luck!

Good morning, I have a 16gb memory stick, having

I think it could be due to virus activity. Some virus make the contents of the drive hidden, thats why user can't see the files and the space available for use is less than the capacity.
It is suggested that go to FOLDER OPTIONS - and seclect SHOW HIDDEN FILES. It may show the hidden files. Otherwise, if you dont have any vital data on the drive, just format it. Hope this would fix the issue and you would be able to enjoy the full capacity of the disk

Let me know if any further clarification is required. Hope this helps! Dont forget to rate the solution!!

I have a verbatim flash

This problem is not typical, as there is supposed to be two small plastic tabs that that slide into equally small indentations on the plastic that keep the drive out while in use. Normally the drive would slide out and lock, then, when you're done do push the drive back in. Appears to be defective or broken.

My 8GB Verbatim flashdrive says

Hi,

You need to use the command (dos) prompt to format it. The sequence of command would be Click > Start > RUN > type "CMD" > type "CHKDSK" and the letter of the stick and "/F". Ex. chkdsk Q: /F > Enter

Plug your USB Drive into your computer, then go to:Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Computer ManagementThen once in the Computer Management Window look on the left under "Storage" and click the + to expand.Find your USB drive on the list to the right. If you right click the drive on the list, you'll have several options including the option to format it.

Do get back to us for any further query and do not forget to accept it.

Thanks for contacting fixya.com
