Ruud UAKA030 Air Conditioner Questions & Answers
Water dripping (almost running) out of the left corner of air handling unit. Help???
You're correct in checking the drain pipe, because it's become blocked. The only trouble is, you're trying to clear the wrong end. The condensate water is spilling out of the air handler because that's where the pipe has a clog.
These pipes usually have un-glued joints next to the air handler, for times such as this. If you can't pull them apart, you may have to cut the pipes and reconnect tham with fittings from the hardware store. (which is a normal procedure.)
I usually use a wet/dry shop vac when repairing this problem, sucking out the clog & the water, then blowing out the line to where it drains outside. I've also used the clothes hanger technique to drag crud out of the air handler fitting.
Hope this is helpful. ;)
We need an owners manual.
Hi, looks like you have a 21/2 ton Ruud split system by the numbers. Let me look this up and see if I can find a manual for this unit and send you a link to down load it. Give me sometime please. Be back soon.

Hello
You need to complete the 24 volt circut from the themostat to the transformer to get the contactor to pull in.
Check for voltage at the transformer, should be 120 v in 24 volts out. Also there may be a small reset button on the transformer.
Lhow do I clean my inside coil on my Rhuud split system
It differs between upflow and downflow systems. A downflow can be cleaned by taking the coil cover off and cleaning the coil. An up flow on the other hand, you have to remove the coil door, then remove the plate that's on the coil itself to get underneath. This can be a pain and a higher risk in damaging the system. It helps to remove the flue first. The coil box and flue are usually 1/4 in or 5/16 in screw heads.
Good luck and I hope you get it going!
Freezing pipes and water dripping on to motherboard of the heater in a Ruud UAKA-030JAZ system. Help?
More than likely, the system is low on refrigerant and the copper line-set is freezing up and water is dripping onto the board in the furnace (and other things) because it is an upflow system with the evaporator coil on top. Other things to check would be:1. Dirty/clogged filters in the return air system.2. Fan motor not working inside furnace. (The Blower)3. Coil dirty/clogged which could be checked by the amount of airflow coming out of the vents. This would have to be cleaned by a technician. Most of the time, it is the charge which also means there is a leak in the refrigerant system somewhere and needs to be fixed. Hope this helps you out! Good luck.
Rudd a/c no fan blowing in house. compressorPHo is
With out a meter it not easy, if so and you have power to the motor, and its not running, then spin the blower wheel to check motor bearings if they are tight, you can try to get a light weight oil 10 wt. into them and free them up, just buying time but could get it going, oil and turn the shaft by hand until it frees up.
If the motor is hot that is a good sign that the motor is OK, its just the bearings, if not the motor is either burnt up or not getting power, a run capacitor failing will usually not let the motor get to speed, or run backwards. Good luck
Compressor comes on, but not
If the compressor is coming on then it means (as you've already concluded) that the fan motor is probably (a) electrically burned up or (b) mechanically locked up. There is a small chance that the capacitor on the fan motor is bad, but unless you can physically see a 'bulge' (of the capacitor) then I would doubt if it's bad. There is even a smaller chance that you have a wire burnt (in two) on the mtr or the capacitor. Again, unless you can see it - the chances are fairly remote that that is your problem.
As to replacing the motor. You would need to go to an Air Conditioning Supply House. Most places will sell to the general public (these days), (with the exception of Refrigerant and big ticket items) although you might have to pay retail instead of wholesale. A good nation wide company that you could try would be Johnstone Supply,
I would think you could get a motor for around $75.
Problem is putting it on. It is fairly easy to change one out - but unless you know something about air conditioners - I wouldn't attempt it - unless you could get the 'exact' same motor and capacitor that is on your AC now. If you can - it's (as I said) fairly easy (usually). The hardest part will be getting the fan blade off the old motor. Some will come right off - but most of them have to be worked off. First take out the set screw(s) that holds the shaft in the hub and then spray the shaft (of the motor) and the hub it is in with WD-40. Drench it in the stuff, being sure to spray WD-40 in the screw(s) hole where the set screw(s) were - and let it sit for a little while.
After it has set for awhile get a crescent wrench and move the shaft around. It should move within the hub as you turn it (the shaft) with the crescent - in which case from that point you just have to pull and tug until the shaft is free of the hub. Do not beat on the end of the motor shaft with a hammer for if you flatten it out you'll have a difficult time getting the shaft out of the hub.
If you decide to have a professional do this - and he uses his motor - you can expect to pay around $250-$300.
Most pros do not like using a customers motor but if you find a person who'll do it - they'll probably charge you around $150-$200 or more - since the labor is the biggest issue of this job. If I decided to let a pro do this I would not furnish the motor - I'd just let him/her do the whole job.
good luck!
I am trying to find a parts list for a RUUD
RUUD will only sell there factory parts to certified contractors. My advice to you is to find a local HVAC parts distibutor that will sell you generaric parts which will work just as good as the factory parts.
When charging the system do
Hi!!
Remove the Low Pressure Service Port cap, hook up your Low Pressure gauge, if you have a reading, proceed to add R22 refrigerant to your system, if there is no reading, open Service Port Valve by turning the hex screw counterclockwise until you do, bleed the service hose, start unit and proceed to charge unit, once your're done, close Service Port Valve.
