Vivitar ViviCam 5100 Digital Camera Questions & Answers
Date stamp
Once you've taken the picture, the date stamp is just more pixels, exactly as if you've taken a picture of a sign with the date on it. Just as a sign hides what's behind it, the date stamp covers whatever was there. You can use a photo editing program to remove it the same way as removing any unwanted object in the picture. You can crop the picture, or use a cloning tool to try to extend the background to cover the date.
Need to buy ViviCam 5100 USB cable
Do you really need the USB cable?
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries. And even if you have to buy a card reader, it won't cost you much more than just a cable.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa (

Format function executed
Hi:
On computers you can retrieve deleted files and pictures.
If you format the disk all will be lost. All will be lost unless you use special programs to recover the files and data.
On digital cameras when you format the card, all is lost. Unless there is some kind of program to use on a computer, I know of nothing and no way to recover anything on formatted memory cards for digital cameras.
Formatting erases permanently with no way to recover.
Always make absolutely sure that you want to format the memory card.
Here are some links which you can try. I have not tried any.

I cannot switch the camera on
sure your batteries are still tip top?
Try two new AA sized NiMH rechargeable batteries or if you have some new alkaline batteries, put them in. the alkaline batteries won't last long, but it it could hint if the camera is still working and worth buying new rechargeables.
AA manganese (Zinc-Carbon) batteries cannot be used with this camera.

Retreiving deleted pics from camera
It can retrieve all data from the camera memory and also from the memory card that you have there, if you want to make sure you can go to a photo center and they can retrieve all your deleted photos from the internal memory of the camera and also from your memory card...
Hope that helps..............
Blurry Image
I had that problem too. So I pushed the MENU button and got to looking to see what all was there. I moved down to where it says SCENE and clicked on it. I moved it down to portrait. On my camera that fixed my problem of no flash and it seemed to take forever to take the picture. You could try that. But I did notice though, that when I turn my camera off and then back on I have to re-do it.
My vivicam x024 won't turn on. how do i remove the memory card? will the photos still be on the card if I remove it?
The SD memory card slot in located on the side og your camera. Push the SD card and it will pop out.The photos are stored on the SD memory and removing it from the camera will not lose the photos stored on this SD memory card.Remove the memory card from the camera and insert it into anUSB memory card reader. Connect this USB memory card reader and memory cardinto the USB port of your working computer. Your computer will see this as anUSB Mass Storage Device or an external storage device; you can then open thefolder on the memory card and copy the photos to your computer.Memory card reader is a handy device and is inexpensive. Youcan copy photos from other cameras and you can also download photos off yourmemory card to someone else's computer without the need of installing anyprograms.

Sd card locked
SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.
