make sure you plug your video into the correct ports of the TV... if you have 3 plug (red, white, yellow) make sure you have them plugged into those and not the Red/White/yellow/cyan/blue (i think) because those are composite and won't work with vid out

It those dam fanalizing codes of the DVD recorders.Not likely,because it impossible to tell,who is sharing their patent coded contents.Buy those movies decoded solfware,use the computer to re recorded,might work.The codes,not as hard as those Hollywood movies.

hello, if it is a universal remote control,pls ensure that the manual has the specific code for your device.Also check if there is a new universal controller for your device.if you experience any more problems operating your device let me know

It looks like the DVD is caught in the mechanism somehow.

1) Disconnect the player from power source.

2) Put it on a nice clear table so you have plenty of room to work and take your time.

3) Take the lid off. Usually 3 cross head screws at the back, possibly a couple at the side.

4) Take lid off carefully, it may need sliding back a little to disengage from the front panel. You should now be able to retrieve the disk.

5) Re-assemble is the reverse of dis-mantle.

Initially, postback and describe the TV program source; direct cable feed, OTA (over-the-air) or through a receiver / decoder box. Additionally, describe how the Zenith ZRY-316 DVD/VCR Recorder is connected to the TV unit; a single coaxial patchcord or multiple RCA to RCA cables or some other means.

Offhand, a possibility to consider is that the output of the ZRY-316 to its RF OUT (Ch 3 or 4) is interfering with the TV channels received on its ANT IN. This would be more pronounced if the DVD/VCR Recorder is fed TV program from a cable decoder or DTA converter box that uses the same Ch 3 (or 4) at its RF OUT. Consider interconnecting the devices' audio & video using RCA to RCA cables.

Alternately, set the Zenith ZRY-316 to RF OUT to Ch 4 (switch at the back) and set the TV to the same.

A few things to consider:

• connections are correct, otherwise the DVD & the VCR would not display on the TV;
• very doubtful if the video head needs cleaning as VCR presumably plays the dubbed from DVD without any garble;
• since the garble is only on recording TV (RF) signals, then it could be presumed to be an RF interference that causes the "...garbled black and white image...".

this happens all the time on my dvd player. im just about ready to throw it out the window. ive only had it awhile.
i called customer service. they said you need a dvd cleaner to clean the lens. I bought one called dvd dr laser lens cleaner. unfortunately, it rejected that disc as well. you could try it i guess, but good luck. tell me what happens. in the meantime, i'm going to put this piece of garbage up on ebay or throw it out my window. total waste of 300 something dollars. buy the warranty! i didn't and im paying through the nose.
i payed $80 for a new laser about 2 years ago, it did JACK. so, dont do that either. sorry to sound so aggravated, but i have been working on this for a few hours now. i opened it up and tried to look at the lens. looks fine. good luck.

clean the eye. look inside near the cd spindle and there will be this glass looking eye. Hopefully it's dusty..pure alcohol and very lite swabbing.

machine might only take - dvd or + dvd only some take both types will show on front of machine just a thought

Try a -RW disc. Only the higher priced DVD recorders can use the +RW disc.
Electrode

This unit has separate optics to read audio and dvd's and unfortunately you are describing a defective pick up assy (lazer). This unit is not servicable and you cannot get parts for it because LG/Zenith has made these units exchange only. Your owners manual will give the # to call to get quotes and instructions for arranging exchange. I have found this is pretty reasonble for this service.

Ok what you can do (with power off and unplugged) is open the unit up, find the load and unload motor on the DVD carriage and manually turn it this will unload the disk.

How are you attempting to connect this? Can we get more information, such as your TIVO model and TV model?
