Upright freezer works fine, it is in the garage

It can be normal. Remember, the way a refrigerator works is by removing heat from somewhere you don't want it and placing it in a neutral location.

Freezer stopped after power outage

If the sides are hot, look at the defrost timer. Sounds like it has stopped running with the defrost elements on. The compressor has a safety switch on it that opens either if the compressor gets too hot or if it pulls too much current when starting. If your power flickered a lot before coming back on, that triggered the safety switch. Now that it's running normally, I wouldn't worry. The defrost timer is your problem now.

Textured door sweats on humid days. Place about dollar bill size looks like light rust. Anyway to clean w/o damage to door?

There are some products that you can put on rust that cause it to harden and stop if from spreading, You would then have to repaint the door.

Doest seem to be freezing as solid as it should aspecial in door

Hello Linda, thank you for your post! I understand that your Frigidaire freezer is not freezing properly. This could be an issue with your sealed system (which is compressor, condenser, drier, or tubing) or your control panel. The recommended temperature setting for your freezer is 0°F. It is also possible that this could be a miscommunication within the freezer and I would suggest performing a reset. You can perform a reset by disconnecting the power cord for at least ten minutes. If the reset does not help resolve your problem you need to contact a professional technician for proper diagnosis and repair. -Matt

E9 is a defective Temperature Control
  • You will need to replace Part # 297216004 It should be mounted on the evaporator behind the panel in the inside of the freezer.
  • I am including a picture and a link, it should be #21 on the diagram.
  • You have to unscrew the Knob and the 3 screws holding the temperature control Cover and the one holding the probe/sensor (#24 on diagram)

I have an 11 cf upright freezer. it has been running most of the time or at least make a noise. and I just defrosted it. and its still doing the same thing. any comments?

Good Afternoon friend, thank you for your post!

I see that your Frigidaire freezer is making noise and you have recently defrosted it, but your freezer is still making the noise. Your freezer will make certain noises which are normal operating noises for the freezer.

The compressor is a high efficiency so you may hear it during start up and while running. Additionally, refrigerant circulating through your freezer can make a tapping sound or even a gurgling noise. I hope this has been helpful. -Matt

Why is door ajar alarm on when door is closed

Hello friend, thank you for your post!

I see that your door ajar alarm is going off when the door is closed to your Frigidaire freezer. It sounds like a possible issue with the control panel or switch. Let's perform a reset to your appliance to see if that will correct the issue. You can do that by disconnecting power from the appliance for roughly ten minutes. I hope this helps. -Matt

The lower half of the freezer is cold but not the top. There is no air blowing ou the top vent. What should I do?

Hello friend, thanks for your inquiry!

I understand that the top of your Frigidaire freezer is not cold but the lower half is. I would recommend to perform a defrost on your freezer, I understand that it is a frost free freezer but it could be that maybe something has caused it to freezer over. You can perform a manual defrost by unplugging your appliance for four to six hours. If that is unsuccessful and you are still not getting cooler temperature up top I would seek assistance from a professional to come out and diagnose your appliance. -Matt

Red alarm light flashing

Good Morning Friend, thank you for allowing me to assist you! Did your freezer previously experience a power loss? If the temperature of food rises to an unsafe level, the buzzer will sound and the red light, if equipped, will also glow. First, deactivate the alarm to your freezer by unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker. It is good to wait approximately ten minutes and then turn on your freezer. After deactivating the alarm and your freezer has run approximately four hours, the red light/alarm should go off on its own. If the red light/alarm continues to stay on, your freezer may possibly have a communication problem with the control board, temperature control or a wiring harness. If this is the case, I would recommend connecting with an experienced technician to determine the underlying cause. - Z
