Hello Martin, welcome to FixYa.
I understand by reading your post which indicates it is a Frigidaire FDB1050REC dishwasher you appear to have a problem with the unit draining, (not sure if in anything to do with the drain has changed recently...or any plumbing in the home, has it ?)
The reason I ask is based on your description it sounds like either the overfill float is being activated right away or it is siphoning the water out...my bet would be the siphoning since the overfill would not continue running more than a moment or three.
I'll tell you the number one cause of water siphoning scenarios on these Frigidaire dishwasher's (or most dishwasher pump failures in fact and almost to a person my customers are shocked because their machine was supposed to have been "professionally installed", as I'm sure that is what they paid and were led to believe).
The problem usually can be attributed to the drain line never being routed correctly from the beginning, specifically no presence of a "high-loop" thus sometimes the deficiency is obvious from the start, other times it may work adequate for a couple or more years.
Frigidaire is particularily vulnerable to this since these pumps are very weak and do not have much forgiveness or extra "torque" to compensate for this overlooked necessity, where the drain hose is lying on the floor all the way to the home plumbing and then tie up high at the end...the high loop must be as close to the unit as possible.
Frigidaire (again as do most) typically fasten's their hose to the right hand side of the tub, but then a plumber or installer takes it down to gain a few more inches of hose.
I'd advice referring to your installation guide for confirmation of this if in doubt, but it is the most likely cause of the water draining out right away. I do have a "pdf" service manual I can send you if you want to reply with an email address.
Hope this helps move you forward and provides some insight into the matter. This may not turn out to be the problem, but it happens often enough I think it's worth investigating.
Please keep me posted on your progress and if I can help in any manner going forward I will. Good luck.
Regards,
Macmarkus :)
The dishwasher will not turn
I would first take a look inside the junction box were the power cord connects to the dishwasher.
The junction box is located at the bottom of the dishwasher and can be access by removed the toe plate.
I have seen were one of the wire nuts that connect the power cord will come loose or burn off.
If the power cord is connected ok then I would check the thermo fuse with a ohm meter to see if it's blown.

Hi
First make sure that nothing is blocking the drain pump
assembly located inside the lower front panel of the dishwasher. If the issue
returns after its cleaned then it means that the control board has gone bad and
should be replaced. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

Hi
Dishwasher not draining issue usually occurs due
to kinked drain pipe, clogged drain filter or drain pump. First make sure that
the drain is not clogged and remove clogs if present. If no visible lint is
present then remove the lower front access panel to check the drain filter and
drain pump for any clogs, you'll need to clean the drain filter and drain pump
completely. Also, check for any food pieces stuck near the pump impeller &
clean the chopper assembly. Please note that dishwashers don't drain out the
complete water such that heating element doesn't overheat. Hope this helps...
Please post back for any further assistance.
