Masterbuilt eletric smoker: the control panel
I have one that is 3 yrs old and just had the same problem. After reading other posts this is what I did. I removed the wood chip holder. This is accomplished by removing two phillips head screws from the holder on the right where it attaches to the inside wall. Then the are to small bolts that have to be removed where it attaches to the frame in the center. Now you should all of the heating element. Remove the two outer screws where it attaches to the back wall. Don't take out the center one, it attaches the ground wire on the other side.
Tip the heating element up and gently pull it out, it won't come far and you should be able to see if one of the wires has burned through. The wire had burned off the right hand portion of the element in mine. To repair it you need to access it from the back. Take out the screws that hold the time/temp control on top. Drill out all the rivets from the back outside panel, remove the bottom screws from the drip pan holder, and pull the panel off. Towards the bottom you will see the back side of a small metal box that covers the heating
element connections. Pull that box out.
Get some blue or red rtv sealant from your local auto parts store Clean the area around where the element mounts on the inside, put some sealant on the mounting plate and remount it. This serves to make it water tight to help prevent corrosion inthe future. I chose the leave the connection cover off the backside. If you do that as well you might need to use small bolts to remount the element since the screws screw into that box.
In order to remoun the element wire you will need a yellow male spade clip available at the auto parts store, home depot, etc. Strip about 3/8 in of the insulation of the burned wire, place it in the center of the spade clip and crimp the yellow part. Slide the clip onto the element end. Reattach the time/temp control, plug in the smoker and turn it on to see if it heats. You can lightly and quickly touch the element inside the smoker to check for heat, carefully of course so you don't get burned.
Assuming it works, unplug everything, return to the back and use rtv sealant to completely cover the connections to the element. Wait for it to set up and recoat a 2nd time. Plug everything back in and do a 2 or 3 hour test run. If that goes well, apply rtv sealant to the back of the smoker and use #10 1/2in sheet metal screws to reattach the back. Good luck!
Won't heat
I have the same smoker with the same problem. I checked the heat element with an ohm meter, it was good so just cleaned the burnt residue from the male spade connectors attached to the element with a dremel tool. Slipped two new female spade connectors over the ones on the element and soldered them with the wires attached with a 1/16' silver bearing electronics solder. Now the connections cannot become loose and burn up again. I tested everything out and then wrapped the exposed connectores with non conductive fiberglass electrical tape and covered everything with expanding foam that comes in a spray can. Easy fix for me after reading all the posts from you guys here. Good luck and go for it! All I had to buy was the foam insulation.

First of all i must warn you that this unit hasn't been designed to go beyond 200C and needing 30 minutes to reach this temperature is about right - make sure you are using the right temperature scale.
If you are indeed using the F scale then the temperature analogue controller (basically just a simple bimetal thermostat) is defective and it will have to be replaced - an extremely simple job, it just plugs in.

SEAL AROUND DOOR HAS COME
You can use wood stove rope gasket material, that you can find at most home centers or hardware stores. It will probably seal better than what fell off. You'll also need the adhesive. Take a piece of the old gasket with you for comparison in width and thickness.

Have you checked the electrical receptacle it's plugged into?
Has the circuit breaker for that receptacle been tripped?
If you have the electronic control option is that lit up?
If you answered YES to the last 2 questions and No to the first One, then that's where you need to start the trouble shooting. If that doesn't solve the problem, ten it may be in the electronics. In which case you need to contact Masterbuilt's Technical Service Dept or their Customer Service Hot Line.
I have a new Masterbuilt electric smokehouse, ser.
Look on the back of the smoker and you will see 2 clips near the bottom under the drip tube. The long black pan has tabs that clide into the clips. This catches drippings from the xmoker. The metal square pan is the drip tray that goes in the bottom and the oval pan is the water pan that slides in the smoker right above the chip box.
Will not heat
You have a faulty wire or bad heating element, I will bet that it is a wire broken or burned apart. Open the unit and check the wiring from the case to the element and check if it is not severed or burned apart.
