Short battery life with Nikon Coolpix L3

The flash uses more battery than anything else. Try turning off the flash, you may be surprised at the results. The number two power hog is the screen, and it's worthless at the beach or in any bright sunlight. That's why I won't buy a camera that doesn't have a view finder. Still, you should get a lot more than 12 shots from a pair of lithiums. I have a pair of lithiums in a Canon Power Shot that have taken hundreds of stills and quite a bit of video (all outdoors, no flash or screen) and are still usable.

Camera will not transfer images to computer. Maybe something wro

Just getting a car reader will be much easier than trying to take the Coolpix apart and repairing. Also your USB cord could be damaged.

MEMORY CARD

Hi there.

This may be easier than you think.<grin>
SD cards can become accidentally locked. Double check your card. Take a look at the side of it. There will be a little switch. Make sure the switch is in the unlocked postion and see if that's your problem. Let me know if that doesn't help.

Coolpix 3200 interior possitive (+) battery post disconnected...

Hi there,
There is a way to fix it, but it involves soldering. You can solder that piece back into place. It should only take you about a minute to do the job.
Your going to need a slim soldering iron (in order to reach down in the battery compartment), a piece of solder, and maybe a third hand to hold the connector in place. It should only take a drop or two of solder to do the trick.
If your not comfortable with that, then you need to take it to a shop. Hope this helps you.

Battery door and latch broken

Have used a 5-cent nylon cable tie for years on our CoolPix 990 and it never has failed, and still allows for battery changes. Looks a little funny to some, but is very functional. Don't know if your camera's design is similar enough for this to work, but it may worth trying.

Camera lens is out, but camera is off

First deconnect all batteries, usb cable anything from the camera. Leave it for about 1 hour and then without connecting batteries press and keep the the power button pressed for about 1min. Then press twice on every other button including the shuter, zoom or stuff like that. This should reset a microcontroller that remembers the last operation done. This doesn't reset the camera. After this, connect the batteries and try to power it again. IF this doesn't work. Try to push the lens back in using your fingers. Don't force them to much if they doesn't appear to go back. Use 2 fingers to press on the lens one on each side aplying equal pressure. You may hear a click noise when the lents start to go back. Again, don't force them to much. Try these at first and then if they doesn't work, please post back and specify what does the camera do. No led's no nothing or ..?

Lens won't open

Assume the batteries have full power and the camera did not fall, I had the same problem and turned out that some dirts got inside. So I sucked the area around the lens with a powerful vacuum cleaner and was able to make it work again.
