Had a problem with the thermostat connected to

Jake, it sounds like the motor coil wiring on the blower that doesn't work may be damaged or has been disconnected.

Regarding the one that is still running. The automatic fan control is located on the bottom of the blower assembly. The fan control is a nonadjustable, automatic type. The fan control will require between 3 and 7 minutes of main burner operation before the fan control "closes" and activates the blower. The blower will continue to run between 3 and 7 minutes after the main burner shuts off, before the fan control "opens" and deactivates the blower. In which case, if it continues to run and run and run, the fan control switch (part # R-2503) may have failed and will need to be replaced. You can order the part from Empire Comfort Systems Tech Service 800-851-3153. Have the Model Number, Serial Number of the heater handy, as well a the Part Number. when you call.

To help you further, I have included a link to the Owner's Manual for that model wall heater. You can download and print it for future reference.

I hope this helped you troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

How do the wires from the thermostat connect to

Sounds like a millivolt system. If it is, there is only two wires that go to the thermostat. There should be two wires to connect the thermostat wires either down by the valve or on top of the furnace. Make sure the valve is turned to "on" and not just "pilot"

My empire wall furnace does not ignite. It has gas

It could be several things: Is the Control Knob turned from Pilot to ON? If that is the case, wait a few minutes after turning it to ON. That will allow the Thermopile to heat up sufficiently. Be sure the flame is touching the Thermopile. If everything looks correct turn up your Thermostat to higher than the ambient room temperature and see if the burners light. Remember to turn your Wall Thermostat down to the lowest temperature setting before turning the knob from Pilot to ON.

FYI - That Wall Furnace does not have a Thermocouple. It uses a Thermopile instead to generate millivolts of electricity to open the gas valve and maintain the pilot flame.

If it is the Thermopile, you can order it directly from Empire Comfort Systems, as well as download your Owners Manual at www.empirecomfort.com

Pilot won't stay lit

Your unit has a "vent safety limit switch" which is a high temperature limit. It gets hot enough to trip over time because you do not have proper venting. It is a safety switch and SHOULD NOT be disabled - instead find and fix the venting problem(chimney bad?)!

Empire BF-30-2 heater flame diminishes after a few minutes and then goes out shutting the pilot light off too. What could be wrong?

There are several possible causes for the described issue with your Empire BF-30-2 heater. Here are a few things to check:
  1. Dirty or clogged burner: A dirty or clogged burner can cause the flame to diminish or go out. Make sure the burner is clean and free of any debris.
  2. Low gas pressure: If the gas pressure is too low, it can cause the flame to diminish or go out. Check the gas pressure and make sure it's within the recommended range.
  3. Faulty thermocouple: The thermocouple is a safety device that shuts off the gas supply if it detects that the pilot light is out. If the thermocouple is faulty, it could be shutting off the gas supply even though the pilot light is still lit. Check the thermocouple and replace it if necessary.
  4. Faulty gas valve: The gas valve controls the flow of gas to the burner. If the gas valve is faulty, it may be shutting off the gas supply even though the pilot light is still lit. Check the gas valve and replace it if necessary.
  5. Oxygen depletion sensor (ODS) tripped: The ODS is a safety feature that shuts off the heater if it detects a low oxygen level in the room. If the ODS has tripped, it could be shutting off the gas supply. Make sure the room is properly ventilated and reset the ODS if necessary.
If none of these solutions solve the problem, it's best to contact a qualified HVAC technician to diagnose and repair the issue.

I have an RH 50CB-1 Empire heat Stove and you can light the pilot with a torch but the ignition lighter sparks but does not light the pilot

The problem you're experiencing with your Empire heat stove could be caused by a few different issues.
  • The pilot orifice may be clogged, preventing the gas from flowing properly.
  • The thermocouple may be damaged or not functioning properly, preventing the gas valve from opening.
  • The ignition module could be faulty and not generating enough spark to light the pilot.
In the meantime, you can try cleaning the pilot orifice with a small brush to remove any debris that may be blocking the gas flow, but do not attempt to fix or replace any parts without professional guidance.

I have an Empire vented room heater RH-50C-2NAT. I turned it off because on pilot there was still heat coming out and it's very hot and humid in the summer. How will I turn it back on for the winter? Thank you.

You turn the gas back on, press and hold the safety button and press the igniter button. When you see the pilot light, continue to hold the safety button for about 2 minutes and then slowly release it. Well normally, but I found your manual and it is nothing like that. :>D See page 9 of the manual https://empireheaterparts.com/pdf/empire/manuals/RH-50-65-Manual.pdf ..
