This advise is for Kenmore Elite and Whirlpool Duet front loader washers and dryers with a Control Lock problem.

This may or may not be an indication of a serious problem. In the majority of the cases, this is a simple operator error. Nearly all these model appliances have some sort of Control Lock feature on the front panel now. This is a designed safety feature that is used to prevent small children from manipulating the controls. The controls can be easily locked or unlocked by pressing and holding the following button on the front panel:

Whirlpool Duet Washer - Press and hold the END OF CYCLE SIGNAL button for 3 seconds.

Whirlpool Duet Dryer - Press and hold the END OF CYCLE SIGNAL button for 3 seconds.

Kenmore Elite Washer - Press and hold the DRAIN/SPIN button for 3 seconds.

Kenmore Elite Dryer - Press and hold the AUTO DRY LEVEL button for 3 seconds.

These instructions may not be all inclusive for all Kenmore and Whirlpool models, but they are the most common. Chances are, if you have a Control Lock feature, the instructions will be printed on the front panel adjacent to the button that is required to lock or unlock the controls.

NOTE: These instructions may also work for newer model Maytag, Hotpoint, Admiral and Fridgidaire model front loaders as well. Refer to your owner's manual or front panel for instructions pertaining to your sepcific model.

If the Control Lock feature will not lock or unlock the appliance, unplugging the unit for AT LEAST 30 minutes is recommended in order to reset the main control board. In many cases this is all that is required to correct momentary glitches.

The brushes in your motor that turns the drum have most like worn out. This is as long as you haven't had prolonged scraunching noises for last 8-10 washes from the bearing kit, if there has been no previous loud scraunching noises & the machine has been running as normal, then I'd for sure say my first check would be the motor brushes, hope this helps ????

How old is it . It could be the belt but thats not likely what caused the belt to fail . How steady and level is the mechine dose it shake at any speed . The problem with washing mechines they have to take force wieght and you need to stay on top of the small problems because the big problems are vary expensive just for parts . If you can take it apart little sheet metal screws and a few clips look at the belt tenisnion system the motor mounting system the bearing play through the center of the barrel and springs involved with barrel rotation lots of leverage on these points.

This is a common issue with Whirlpool Duet washers however, your whirlpool duet washer can be reset to resolve the control lock problem. Press and hold the END OF CYCLE/CYCLE SIGNAL button for 15 seconds to reset the control. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

f06 relates to a motor fault....easiest fix is to replace the motor...... cheaper on ebay........cheers

Hi, the water valve is defective, to make sur unplug the washer 117 electrical corde from the wall and look if it still fill up, if yes then u can be sure that the inlet valve is defective, juste replace the valve and ur home free.. wish u well, Alain

I have unplugged the machine and plugged it back in and restarted, just like when a computer needs to be reset/cold boot.

The "oversudsing" problem is usually due to operator error. These new front loaders require the use of HE laundry detergents. These greatly reduce the sudsing issue. They also require VERY LITTLE detergent. For example, a normal-size laundry load only requires 1-2 TEASPOONS of HE laundry detergent.
