My Bose PS321 home Theater System has absolutely no sound. It worked fine, was disconnected to reconnect to different TV and had no power. I checked and replaced blown fuse inside power supply. I got it powered up, but then no sound. This unit had previously been connected to this same TV before without a problem. Checked the MOV and it doesnt appear shorted. R10 appears to have gotten hot because its dark, but offers an adequate measurement. Any suggestions? Thanks!
The power supply is 29 volts raw voltage, the IRFI44N fet on the power board is used is a switcher.
It reduces the voltage to 17 volts which is required for the AV3-2-1 meda center. The higher voltage biases the sound to cut off and can blow the drivers, try changing the fet and see if plays........

I have played all types of DVDs(American and Europe)on my Bose 321;but the system cannot play same DVDs anymore. Its says " FORMAT UNSUPPORTED" I have switched to all formats like UTSC,PAL and MULTISTANDARD.It only plays CDs and copied DVDs.Please help!
Format unsupported simply means the unit can not read the disc. The problem is either the disc or the player.
Contact Bose technical support if you are sure the discs are good. 800-367-4008

What can be done when bose 321 system always reads bad disc on all dvd that are played in system?
if will not read a laser lens cleaning disc , then it will need to be opened up and the laser lens will need to be cleaned manually with the cleaning solution and a cotton tip , but do it easy and dry the lens with the cotton tip
if that don't do it then the laser mechanism will need replacing

I have an early BOSE 321 unit with a failed dvd drive (toshiba). Is there any source other than BOSE to obtain a replacement drive? The actual failure is at least partly a faulty tray drive mechanism. Thanks.
Found another help site similar to FixYa where a person had posted that they successfully replaced their failed DVD ROM drive in their BOSE 3-2-1 Series I unit with a later model Toshiba SD-M1712 drive. There are 2 plastic trim bits and the metal DVD drive unit cover that need to be swapped between the old drive and the new PC type drive to complete the repair. I located and ordered a new drive and spent last evening removing the old drive from the BOSE. To remove the old drive all that is really necessary is to remove the lid from the BOSE unit and pop off a black steel holdown assembly across the top of the failed drive. Once that is done the old just drive lifts out and the replacement is virtually the same as swapping out a drive in your PC. I am awaiting arrival of the replacement OEM drive ($25) from some place in Texas. This just may work. BOSE wants hundreds of bucks and several weeks to repair their crappy unit. I will never purchase BOSE again. I had to also purchase a power supply in years past for this very lightly used unit and that was $300 and a lot of aggravation using the BOSE repair system. I have trouble just throwing this unit away because we spent $1000 hard earned $'s to buy the "best". I was certainly fooled. If this doesn't work I'm only out $25.

Can I add speakers to my Bose 321 system, I have 2 additional speakers? i have a mac mini hooked up to a bose 321 system and would like to add outdoor speakers.the mac mini already has headphone jack taken.can i hook up more speakers to the 321? I do not need to separate rooms etc as per lifestyle.
If it's an original 321 system (series 1) then it has an audio output on the back. (via RCA jacks)
You would still need an amp or receiver to connect the speakers to.. (unless they're powered speakers)
If it's a 321 series II or 321 series III- it does not have an audio output.
If the system has a DVD tray right in the middle of the media center, then it's a series 1.
Otherwise, you'd have to get a 1/8 splitter to come from your Mac's headphone output. (still- you will need an amp/receiver or powered speakers to have both 'rooms' playing the same thing from your computer)

I have the same problem. When I put in a dvd it tries to read it and then comes back unupported format. What does this mean and why won't it read the dvd?
