Installing a internal battery for the Nikon D70s
I have not done the replacement yet, but I can tell you where the battery is. It is located underneath the USB/Power connections on the left side of the camera. There are several covers and boards to remove to get to the battery.
I have just got a CHR error on my D70. Please
It's problem with memory card. If you have some unsaved photos thry to rescue them with memory card reader and some rescue program. Then format card and thry again. If that dont help, hry to put another memory card and it should be fine. Hope I helped!
Error CHR in D70s
try another cf card first. if the trouble is still the same, there is an internal malfunction in the unit, you need pro fix then.. [:0(
I have just bought a Nikon D70 body off Ebay
This is most likely to be a battery problem. Rechargeable batteries don't last forever. Lithium batteries in particular can fail early if they are allowed to become totally discharged.
The best way to check is to buy a new battery, then try to charge it. If it charges and the camera works, problem solved.
If it doesn't charge, then you will need a new charger. The battery will not be wasted though, as it is always handy to have a spare.
D70s owners manual
You can download a PDF version from the manufacturer's tech support site at http://support.nikontech.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/13948 . At least if you're willing to settle for an English-language one. If you want another language, you'll have to search through Nikon's international web site.
When I change lenses I get a 'fee' message
There are several possible reasons for this.
A) The lens is what Nikon calls a non-CPU lens, lacking the electrical contacts for things like autofocus and aperture control. With such lenses, you must use the Manual (M) mode. You won't be able to use the camera's light meter, and you have to adjust the aperture by turning the ring on the lens.
B) The lens is a D-type lens, with an aperture ring. You have to turn the aperture ring to its minimum (largest F/number) and lock it.
C) The contacts are dirty or otherwise not engaging properly. Clean the contacts on the back of the lens and on the lens mount. Reattach the lens and jiggle it slightly to try to engage the contacts.
If none of the above apply, then the camera and/or the lens may need service.
CHA?
I found this answer on the Nikon web site.
3) Camera displays “CHA” in top LCD.
The camera has detected an invalid partition type or is not working
properly. Reformatting the memory card may allow it to be used. If an
approved memory card causes the camera to display the "CHA" indicator
contact the memory cards manufacturer for assistance.
Please
note that the default disk format used in Windows XP is FAT32 and if a
card is formatted with this setting on an XP system, a D1 series camera
will report "CHA". Reformat the card as "FAT" to use in the D1 series
camera.
Nikon D70 not showing shots in order as when i take them.
Greetings...
There are a couple of things to look at here...
Your camera settings and your computer file settings...
For the Nikon D70 make sure the file number sequence is set to on...
SET UP MENU (wrench icon)
File Number Sequence: This lets the camera number your images starting at the last shot you made, even if you've formatted your card. I leave this to ON. If you turn this feature off you'll start from 0001.JPG each time...
Are you working on a Mac or PC?
If you are on a PC make sure that the program you are working on is set to sort by name...
If your Nikon was not set to sequence, you will need to rename the files. Nikon has a free program, ViewNX, that will allow you to view, sort and rename image files...
Additionally, on a PC, open Windows Explorer, go to Tools, Folder Options, View, and UN check the 'Hide extension' box...
This allows you to see the naming extension's on you files...
Have a great day....
Shutter sticks halfway
Some mechanical defects could be there at the shutter assembly unit. Must check before it gets deteriorated.
Nikon D70s Photos Not Crisp in Last 6 months
Is the mounting ring on the camera loose? Check the screws for tightness if you have the proper cross point screwdriver. Adjustment the CCD position screws is the common fix otherwise
