You can't. The 5700 is a still camera, with no video recording capabilities.

I have the same problem since yesterday! When I switched on the camera it shows only black screen with all the settings on it. I can change the settings and I can take a picture,but it will be only a absolutely black picture! :(

Your CCD sensor most likely has what is referred to as a "dead pixel" or "stuck pixel", which is a pixel in the sensor that is not functioning properly anymore. There is not much to do to get it fixed. If you have an image editing program such as photoshop, corel draw or gimp, it is very simple to clone or heal the pixel out.

I had the same problem. Nikon inspected and repaired it no-charge (turnaround time was about four weeks but the price was right). Read the Nikon Service Advisory at

Per the advisory, this offer of free service expires 31 Aug 2011.

It's not supposed to. The Nikon 5700 works with CF cards.

If you remove the memory card the internal memory should kick in.

You just need to go to E-Bay and take your pick, there are hundreds of listings.

Unfortunately, Nikon has stopped selling parts to independent servicers so you can only deal with Nikon now if you have service problems.
