The drian hole has become stopped up and ice has accumulated in the the drian hole. You will need to unplug the fridge and remove the cover on the back (located at the bottom, 6 screws). On the freezer side there is a drian hole with a rubber 90 and a clear line that runs to the drain pan. Remove line and unstop. Don't not put the line back on yet.

Now for the fun part, remove the basket and the two bottom shelves from the freezer. Half way up the back there are 2 screws that need to be removed. After removing screws pull up on the top cover to so you can remove the bottom cover. The bottom cover maybe froze to the coils and to the inside drain pan. Break the ice with a butter knife, and remove cover ( do not hit the coils). Now you need to break the ice that is froze to the the pan and under it. Once you have remove all the ice you will see the drain hole, use a small pointed object to break ice that is in drain hole. Now you can put the drain line back on and make sure that the other end is in the drain pan under the fridge. Now reassemble the fridge and plug it back up.

It took me about 20 minutes to do this.

Check
Temp. control knobs,

Small fan in freezer, it should start working after opening the freezer door for a couple of minutes. If it does not start, use a pen or pencil to turn the blades, if it kick in, replace motor.

Remove freezer back panel (where the little fan is) and check for iced evaporator coil, if so, unplug unit and use a heat gun or hair dryer to melt ice, make sure the air duct going to the fridge is clear.
Once this is done, restart unit

Good day,
It is located in the fresh food compartment on the top to the rear of the main controls.
You can tell where the exact location is because a small hole exists where a screw driver can be inserted and used to advance the timer into a defrost mode, or in some cases when the machine is off because it is in defrost to turn the machine back on. The advancing shaft will only turn clockwise.

first i would check the connector on the hinge of the door to k=make sure its made al the way.

It sounds like the freezer fan is either bad or stalled with ice blockage. Fix the fan and the problem should go away. The only other possibility that comes to mind is a bad seal allowing atmospheric air to enter at that point.

On newer Maytag fridges Press Options, then Water Filter, then Reset, and then Yes.

Hold the botton on each side of the light in , until they start flashing .

freezer side check fan working check damper to ref. side.

Pull the refrig out and remove the back panel . On the side of the compressor , is the overload/relay . Carefully pry this piece off , as it will come off in pieces , due to burning . Part number 12002784 , is the replacement .
