Fan will not shut off

I think the problem is with the switch. If it is closed (i.e. turned On), it will not go off. Try opening the switch box of the fan unit and check to ensure there is nothing in the box that may be interfering with the switch by keeping it closed (completing the circuit). Otherwise, seek the services of a qualifed electrician.MR - PNG

Microwave not heating food

The problem you are having with your microwave is a common one. Not heating is a problem that can be caused by three things. I'll list the most common solution first, the magnetron that actually does the heating is what is making that noise and has gone bad. It is possible for you to also have a bad high voltage diode that has opened up, solution two, or solution three is the high voltage capacitor is not working properly as well. From my experience with microwaves I am positive that it is your magnetron that is bad. If you are not do it yourselfer you'll need to take it to a repair shop to replace. However, if you know how to use a screwdriver and can unplug a couple of wires with spade terminals on them, then you can take it off yourself, find another one and replace it the same way you took it off. The magnetron sits behind the control panel of your microwave but on top. It has cooling fins on it and has 2 terminals maybe three depending and make and model that plug into it. It has 4 screws that are easy to get to that actually holds it in place. If you do not have a good local source like an electronic parts supply place then you can find the right magnetron at www.mwoparts.com. Be sure you always unplug the microwave before touching or trying to take the he cover off and then when you take the magnetron off also.Good luck and God bless.

Our microwave does not even sound like it's trying

Could be any of the HV components...there may be a relay for turning the magnetron on and off that mayu be bad...there is a diode in the HV circuit you can check...the capacitor may be bad...or the magnetron tube may be bad...be sure to short the capacitor with an INSULATED screwdriver before you work on the HV components...not doing this can result in DEATH by electrocution..the voltage is in the order of 2000 volts at a very high joule rating.

Wicrowave runs but food not

It sounds like the magnetron may have either failed or is not being supplied with the extremely high voltage required to run it.
Make sure the !!!!capacitor is discharged!!!!! before attempting any sort of repair.
Check the door interlock switches first then the high voltage diode with either an AVO model 8 on high resistance range for short circuit, the capacitor can fail and go short circuit, the feed fuse on the primary of the high voltage transformer and then finally, the magnetron is best checked by substitution.
Hope that helps.

Comes on when I shut door seems to be heating,

We see (and repair) this a lot. The problem is a shorted cook relay (RY7) on the control panel, which we regularly repair nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid with a one-year guarantee.

At our Web site, you can get details of our service, plus we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Maytag MMV4184AAW Microwave not heating

If you are looking to repair this yourself (along with assoceated risks) to cut test time in half the first test point would be to check for both live and neutral feed to the high voltage transformer. If you have both live and neutral here then the control circuit is working and the fault will lie within the high voltage circuit.

Hope this helps

Is it safe to heat our food without any cover in

Yes it is perfectly safe to heat food without a cover. It is the microwave that cooks the food from the inside out and it does not leave any radiant behind. I hope this helps. Don't forget to rate my answer.
