never had this problem until we switched to hd tv service, changed it from 720p to 1080i and it helped it a little. will let uyou know if I find out how to fix it completely

Open the back of the tv and check Fuses, sound like the high volt over loaded

Convergence IC's
replace them.

You need a professional.
Stop using the TV until it is repaired.
Continue to use it and your problems will multiply and grow more expensive.
Call the manufacturer to find you nearest authorized service center.

have you tried resizing it with the button again ?
some channels just will not look as good in a zoom or aspect ratio when they are older recorded movies that are not digital recorded or in HD ( high definition )

You convergence amp has failed. A CRT service shop should be able to fix it.

The Deflection section of your power supply has failed.

on the main board of the tv there is a fuse located if that is faulty this can happen,there are also many other possibilities but check out the fuse first many a times replacing the fuse solves the problem as its very negligible to replace the fuse the cost of fuse is under $1.

Check the coolant in all three crt's as chances are it is contaminated (should be crystal clear). If brown (beer color), replace coolant in all three crt's and perform convergence adjust. Picture should be like new!!!

You are not likely to find the board easily, but you should be able to replace the convergence ICs relatively easily. Look at the board. Try resoldering the pins on the STK ICs. If that fails to resolve your problem, replace the ICs. There may be some pico fuses located close by or low valued resistors that may be open. Check for those as well.

The CRTs in modern TVs do not hold a charge because the HV circuit shunts it to ground whenever you power down the TV. You can clean the lens of the CRTs but you can't change the coolant or should you even try. You'll notice that its sealed from the factory. If you suspect a problem with the coolant or that it has dried up or leaked out, you must replace that CRT.

you have t adjust it to the green to get it to set right, if it ont line up youll need to have it converged

I used" Silerado 1st" solution. I have an Akai pt5598hdix/sms.
I had ghosting.Like 3 colors side by side.
Silerado said with TV off press "mute,1,8,2" then TV on.
I didn't see anything like a menu.He warned to write down any setting you saw before you change anything.But for me nothing came up. So as he said the next step try with TV "on" press "Mute,1,8,3" this is another set of adjustments for finer detail. I lined/overlapped all the lines up or down or side to side useing the channel and the volume buttons and then held the enter button down until the TV flashed 3 times.Then I shut it off and when I turned it back on It was perfect.

yes if runing sat or cable, if your using antena you will need dtv antena and dtv box for reception.

replace your convergence IC chips it is not a fuse problem.

Replace shorted Q431,can use a 2sc3998, open r448 .47ohm resistor. after you get set on beware of convergence ic's may have been shorted causing all the problems.Check r859 &r858 .47 ohm 1 wtt that supply - &+ 20 volts to convergence packs, if open replace packs & check low ohm resistors on convergence ,I found r2144 &r2145 open replaced & all systems go "good luck"

They sell a cleaner in the electronics department at Wal-mart, Best Buy and similar stores that is made to clean these screens. I suggest Wal-mart becuase they only charge around $11.00 for this kit. Other places I've seen charges up around $20.00. The kit comes with a bottle of spray and a cloth. Make sure you use the cloth provided and follow the instructions that come with the kit.
