the leads from your MOTHERBOARD TO THE HARD DRIVE make sure they have a
secure dust free connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty if its a flat 40pin ide
this will be the first to fail
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty
or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs power and data to travel through every working device and continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error

Open CPU Speed Professional.
Click "Test Your Speed" on the main program interface.
A real-time, active measurement of your CPU speed will appear numerically, and CPU Speed Professional will also display your CPU speed on a stylish meter for easy visual comprehension.

right click on the speaker icon in the bottom toolbar select playback devices should be a green tick in the speakers if not right click select configure also check the communications tab make sure the are not muted W7 click start control panel sounds and audio devices select advanced there might be a tick in the mute box untick it in XP try swapping the speakers around if the problem still persists either the speaker is faulty or the speakers plug/outlet is usually at the back of the computer or to if a laptop on the side you will have to open up the computer to check the lead attached to the rear of the input plug make sure the connection is good or you might have to clean the dust from your computer dust causes static which causes your computer to overheat and all sorts of problems be sure to wear an anti static earth strap before touching anything inside your computer try cleaning your computer of dust using a fine air blower from a compressor or a can of compressed air making VERY sure that there is no MOISTURE in the air line specifically around the CPU central processing unit and your SOUND CARD dust causes static to build up in a computer causing it to overheat any many other problems hope this helps
