This issue is most likely caused by a capasitor doing bad. There is no easy fix. It must be disembled and the power supply repaired. If done properly, it should cost somewhere between $ 50 to $125. But it may do it again as the Pwoer supply is a known issue for this monitor. Sorry.

This is a common problem across many monitors, unfortunately. The problem stems from one of two things, typically.

It is either the Power Inverter board (Inverter Mirage Electronics AD-1700 Rev:F 200-000-170DTL1 VERSION:A) or a weak or dying backlight.

If your monitor comes on for 2 seconds then you can test the backlight by using the controls to get into the backlight brightnes settings on the OSD and turning it WAY down.

If that dosen't work then it is likely bad capacitors on the Power board mentioned above. If you feel adventurous and know how to solder then you might be able to fix this yourself. You need to be careful however because you are dealing with high votage in there and capacitors CAN hold a charge long after you have unpluged the unit. If that's not for you then I would recomend taking it to a local TV shop for them to fix. The parts shouldn't be more than $20, but labor can be expensive.

Before you take it in to be repaired check one more thing. Click on Start>Right-Click on My Computer>Properties>Hardware>Device Driver. Find your Monitor on the list of hardware devices. Expand it by clicking on it and right--click on your model to update driver. If this does not work then yes, there are two small flourescent bulbs inside the moitor about 8" long and size of a pencil. Those do burn out and can be replaced. However, before you spend money on repairs check for reburbished monitors at websites like TigerDirect. They have new refurbished 19" monitors for a little over $100, Hope this helps.

Power supply filter caps will be he first thing to check, look for leaking/bulging tops.

Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). This monitor can be wall mounted but I do not know what bracket you would use.

If you look on the back of the monitor you should see 4 indents in the sticker near the corners. If you don't then rub around near the corners of the sticker. With a sharp knife or pin you should be able to lift out these tiny stickers. You need to measure the distance between these on the horizontal, vertical and diagonal then you should be able to ask somebody at your local TV dealer for help locating the correct bracket.

The most common problem with LCD monitors is the capacitors that are on the power pack. the pack usually looses or pops as we say 2-6 of them after 3-5 years. its almost a certainty after 5 years. a component repair tech can replace these but unless you can find some one like me who will do it for cheap to save the landfill you most likely will buy a new one.

press top button keep pressing to go up, bottom to go down, press left button to close or wait menu will go out.

Stop the fuzzy, by separating the wires in back. Touching wires cause crosstalk of signals . Immediate fix.

Is it a little or a lot?

Try any of these on a small inconspicous spot:

1) you might be able to gently remove it with a simple pencil eraser.

2) you might try some diluted rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab.

Lastly, show the person who used the crayon how to color with non-messy electronic paint.

Bad caps can look normal but it they can have high ESR, but you should take some voltage readings first, it should have 5vdc and 12~16vdc when the monitor is plugged in but not turn on.
Post pictures of the caps also, many people told me the caps look OK until I see the pictures and they turn out to be bad. You need cap meter taht can read capacitance and ESR.
