Whirlpool estate dryer

on the front panel you'll see a plastic cover that you pop off to see if ignitor is glowing, pop it off and start it,also when it starts do you hear a clicking sound,if no click and ignitor isn't glowing you have a bad thermal fuse, when the fuse blows it's from the dryer running to hot, usually from dryer not being cleaned out or crushed or blocked vent line, unplug the dryer, pull it away from the wall, remove vent line from the back, and remove the back panel, your filter is on top so all your thermostats are in the back, look at the left side you'll see the metal duct your lint filter slides into,to the right and down low you'll see a white piece with two wires, this is the thermal fuse, pull at least one wire off and check it with a meter to see if it's bad, while you're back there, remove the four screws that hold the filter duct on and remove the filter and two phillips screws on the top panel, remove the duct and clean it out,if the vent line is a long run go outside and make sure the hood is open,no covers or screen covering the opening,if clear get a leaf blower, stick it into the vent line from where it connects to dryer and blow out the vent line, put in the new thermal fuse, you should also clean out the front cabinet and you should do this at least once a year so you don't have a fire and your clothes will dry on time,if the fuse is good check the ignitor inside the cabinet,if the ignitor glows but doesn't lite check the sensor and gas coils, when the gas coils are bad usually you'll have a flame liting for like the first 15 to 30 minutes then no flame, when the coils heat up they fail, when they cool you'll have a flame again,go here and see partshttp://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Estate-Parts/Dryer-Parts/Model-TGDX640JQ0/3191/0151200?searchedModel=TGDX640JQ&blt=11 go here to take dryr aparthttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xGIG8Wo5-N4if you need anymore help let me know and if you don't have a meter go buy one,it will be cheaper than changing out parts you don't need, set the meter on say 20k ohms, you'll see a number 1,touch the leeds together and you'll see anything but 1,remove at least one wire from the part you're checking, touch the leeds to both sides of the part,if the 1 stays there the part is bad,any other reading the part is good,it's that simple

ELECTRICAL DRYER WOULD NOT HEAT MODEL#YTEDL856AW1 ESTATE

Hi mohamed berbar...Here are a few things to check:ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO DO ANY WORK ON IT. Check to make sure you are getting full 220 Volt power to the dryer, if you are then:Check your WiringOften the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, burns and the connection breaks. If this has happened to your dryer, you need to replace the power cord and the terminal block inside the dryer to which the wire is attached.Check the Door SwitchIf the door switch or the door-switch actuator is defective, the dryer won't work and you need to replace the failed component. The switch is inside the dryer main housing near the door frame. Sometimes you need to raise or open the top or front of the dryer to reach the switch. Check for continuity you should have none with door open, and should have a reading when closed. If not replace the door switch.Check to make sure you heating problem is not a lint build up in the discharge hose or inside of the dryer venting system,as this condition can cause heater/thermistor problems such as overheating of the heating coil leading to failure of the coil and burnout of the thermostat/thermistor due to overheat. Remove the back/or front just under the door of the machine and try to locate the air duct going from the blower to the drum. Normally inside/outside the air duct you will find the heating coil and the thermostats/thermistors. Once you have located the heating coil, remove the two wires from it and check the coil with an ohm meter across the two terminals of the coil. You should read continuity across the terminals, if you do not read continuity you will need to replace the coil as it is faulty. If the heating coil is ok, then: You can check the thermostat/thermistor/thermal fuse one at a time by removing the two wires and taping them together with electrical tape.Try to run the dryer, if it runs and heats up then replace the thermal fuse/thermistor/thermostat.If you have an ohm meter then you can test the thermostat/thermistor/thermal fuse, then you do not have to tape the wires together as described above. But do not trust the ohm meter all the time, because sometimes it will give a false positive that the fuse is ok when in reality it is faulty.DO THE FOLLOWING TEST:To test your thermostat/thermistor/thermal fuse remove the wires from the thermostat/thermistor/thermal fuse and check the fuse/thermostat,thermistor for continuity, if you DO NOT have continuity then replace the thermostat/thermistor/thermal fuse.DO NOT LEAVE THE WIRES TAPED TOGETHER AFTER THE TEST AS THIS COULD CAUSE A FIRE BECAUSE YOU HAVE REMOVED THE SAFETY.This test of the thermal fuses, thermistor, thermostat, will show if the thermal fuse, thermostat, thermister is really faulty or not.Check your blower wheel to make sure it is secure to the shaft and not plugged with lint, socks, etc. If you have to replace your blower wheel it will remove clockwise as looking at the blower wheel. You will have to hold the belt end of the motor with a vise grip pliers or maybe the shaft of the motor has a notch cut on it for a wrench to fit.If the thermal fuse overheats the dryer will not operate. It's located on the blower housing. It cannot be reset. You can test it with an Ohm meter or continuity checker, remove both wires from the thermal fuse and put the test probes to each of the ends of the thermal fuse, if no continuity then replace the thermal fuse.If you do not have a volt/ohm meter then:DO THE FOLLOWING: Remove the wires and tape them together and try to start the dryer. If the dryer starts then replace the fuse.A vent clogged with lint can cause it to overheat. Right after replacing a dryer element, always run the dryer on air fluff/no heat, and go outside to verify there's plenty of air coming out your vent system. If the vent's clogged, that new element can burn out very quickly. Dryer not spinning

If you are having dryer problems and you cannot even get the thing to start, then you might want to start going through this check list of possibilities. There are a number of things that can cause your dryer to not run.

A couple of the most common problems are the thermal fuse has blown or the door switch is not operating properly. On many dryers if the thermal fuse blows, the dryer will not run at all. This fuse can be checked with an ohm meter. It should show continuity if it is okay. If there is no continuity then you need to replace it and also find out what else failed. This is a safety device that usually blows because something else allowed the dryer to get too hot. It is usually located in the back of the dryer, on the blower housing. Some are oval in shape and others are rectangular, usually with two wires attached.

A defective door switch or a bent door switch lever can also cause you to have problems. If the lever is broken or bent it will not activate the switch. If the switch is broken, this also will not allow the dryer to be started.

The push (or turn) to start switch can go bad, but is unlikely. To check this, hold it in or turn it and then check to make sure you have continuity with an ohm meter.

If the dryer starts and then stops when the switch is released check the control board or the ?even heat? control on some model dryers. Some dryers have a belt break switch that can fail or your belt may be way loose or broken.

Check for burn marks or burnt wires at the terminal block on your dryer, poor connections can cause all kinds of problems. Also poor connections can cause fires.

A bad power cord also falls into this same category.

Of course, always check that you have the proper voltage to the outlet that you are plugging into.

My estate dryer is not producing heat throughout

Often a dryer heating element burns out, but doesn't trip the circuit breaker or blow a fuse. The heating element is simply a long coil of special wire. You can check it for continuity with an ohm meter. No continuity means the element is bad and you need to replace it--electric heating elements aren't repairable. On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse--which is about an inch long--is usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing. If the fuse has blown, you need to replace it. (You can't re-set it.)

There's no heat in the

First thing to check is the thermal fuse on te back of the machine. YOu do this by removing the back panal by taking out the1/4 in screws all around it. The thermal fuse is on the lower left side, is white and islong and thin with two wires going to it. If you have a meter, unplug the wires and check for continuity of the fise, if there is none the fuse is bad and thats your problem. If you dont have a meter, disconnect the wires and connect them together (do all of this while the machine is unplugged of course). Once you have them connected and safely away from any metal (electrical tape would work) plug it back in and turn it on. If the fuse was bad the dryer should heat. If still no heat chances are the ignitor or the gas coils are bad. All of these parts are fairly cheap and easy to put on. This dryer has no pilot light. When you turn dryer on the igniter turns on and lights gas. If yours is not igniting, you could have a bad igniter or a bad heater cavity switch located behind back panel attached to dryer vent area, has two wires connected to it.
