Dear sir, The denon AVR 3300

There is no sleep timer on the 3300. You are experiencing an "over heat" shut down. The 3300 is notorious for over heating at almost any volume level. It must be vented constantly with an external fan pulling air completely through the cabinet. Don't use it at all until you do this. The internal fan is week and will start to make noise from too much heat. Replacing the Denon fan will not solve this either. See my other posts about this issue.

I cannot get the on-creen menu to show

Make sure the "headphone only" button on the front panel is not selected. The on screen display will no show if it is.
Using you 3300 remote select the "system setup" button.
On screen will not work unless you have the monitor plug on the back is set up right. You can find this on page 28 of your guide.
This is the biggest pain in the A of using this model.

I have connected an audio

If you have the User Guide for the Denon 3300, go to the "setting the digital inputs" section. The input settings are in the on screen menu called "system setup menu", then move down to "digital inputs".
Make sure that input you are having problems with is selected properly to "Optical".
The Denon 3300 guide is a mess I know and not user friendly in the least.
I have been using the 3300 for 9 plus years with no failures.

if no display at all, you need to check main fuse. it is located inside the unit at left side where power cord comes in.

No sound from new sony bravia to denon avr 1610

TV's are not your best source of audio. Get the TV-related audio digitally from the source, NOT the TV.

The Denopn avr 688 goes automatically into

The most common problem found on FixYa for Audio Video Receiver's is:

My receiver say's "Protect" or turns on then off. What's wrong? Seven times out of ten it is a shorted speaker or speaker wire2_bing.gif. To determine your exact problem, the first step is to disconnect all speaker wires "at your receiver" Next: Turn the receiver back on. If your receiver still says "protect" or turns off, it needs to be serviced. If your receiver stays on; reconnect your speakers one at a time and power back up after each speaker. You may find that after reconnecting all speaker wires it works! Most commonly the small braids of wire from the + to the - have touched and have caused the problem. In some instances, you noticed the problem only when turning the volume up. either way, make sure the exposed wires to your receiver are no longer than 1/2" long and are completely under the screw down terminal or slide in. When you've found the wire or speaker with the problem, your receiver will go back into "protect" At this point, disconnect the wire from the speaker at the speaker that may be causing the problem then test again.* Note* Make sure speaker wires do Not touch each other as this Will cause a short! If you turn the receiver back on and it stays on, you now know the problem is in your speaker itself. To test your speaker, you will need a multimeter. Set it to ohms resistance and touch the speaker terminals, if there is a short internally the meter will read "1......" If it's an analog meter, it will peg to the right. There's your problem. Now, within any speaker there are quite a few possibilities as to what could be causing the problem. Most common is a blown coil and the speaker needs to be replaced. Some speakers have internal crossovers (usually floor standing speakers2_bing.gif) and may have a shorted or burnt board (usually very visible brown burn marks on the board) and can possibly be repaired if your handy with a soldering iron. Now, if you disconnect the speaker wire at the speaker and it still says "protect" Check your wire for the obvious cut or nail thru the wire if possible. If your system has wiring that runs behind walls, you may need to use your meter again. Disconnect the wire at both ends, keep the ends separated, put your meter on ohms resistance and touch probes to the + and - wires at one side. If the meter pegs to the right or reads "1...." the wire is shorted and needs to be replaced or repaired at the short. Hope this helps.

Power amp 2 channel connection to Denon a/v amp

You don't mention which AR amp we're talking about.

I think you're trying to say you want to know where to extract the front channels from the Denon to feed the AR amp. Right?

That would be an output on the Denon to an input on the AR.

Basically, take an RCA cable pair from the Denon's Pre Out F & L and connect them to the (presumed) L & R inputs on the unnamed amp.

Set the AR amp at a reasonably high volume (if it has a volume knob) and leave it alone. Run through the speaker level adjustments on the Denon to match the Front to everything else and it will control the volume going forward.

I am not able to get audio through my HDMI cables.

It's a monitor - no audio source capabilities.

Get TV-related audio from its original source, not the TV or monitor. TV's and monitors are NOT hi-end audio sources.

Cable box, DVD, BD, games: these are potential hi-fi digital audio sources.

Can't the technician be consulted again for the answer? Otherwise the manual would be the best place to start!

Systom shuts down when volume is adjusted

These systems have a "power overload" protection circuit. When there is a short, or any defect that causes the unit to draw more current, it will shut down at the source of the power. The problem can be as simple as shorted speaker wires, but it can also be any number of shorted transistors or components in the amplifier stages, hence servicing is required, in those cases. Often, it's the final output power transistors, and you might get lucky and be able to find a replacement if you can identify it with a voltmeter. Other than that, it's the decision to have it serviced or not. Get an estimate, service usually isn't cheap.

Denon AVR-3300 component channel switch burnout?

hi there, i don't have a solution unfortuantely, but i may have the same problem. I have a denon 2802 av receiver, i bought it second hand and I can't seem to get the component video in / out working. Are you supposed to just plug it in and it works? Because I can't find any buttons or settings to select component in / out as my input / output sources?
