Denon AVR-1803 Receiver Questions & Answers
How can I connect my I pod Touch to my Denon AVR 1803 reveiver?
Connect the 3.5mm cable to the iPod headphone output and the two RCA plugs into any unused analogue audio input on the Denon AVR 1803. Then choose the appropriate input on the Denon, press play and enjoy the music. Be careful about volume. Start with the volume on the iPad low and adjust to suit.
Cheers, Don.
Turntable
is the turntable a new one if so there is a setting on it for pre amp or computer connection. if its an old school turntable it should work fine.
I would like to add my i-pod to the receiver so i could listen to the music what kind off cable would i need
An i-pod provides a standard headphone level output. The AVR-1803 has nine RCA stereo inputs that will accept the signal from the i-pod. You need a 3.5mm stereo TRS plug on one end and two RCA plugs on the other end to connect your i-pod to your amplifier. Note: Be careful to select a 3.5 mm plug that has a slim enough plastic moulding to fit into the i-pod headphone output. On your amplifier you simply select the analogue input that you have chosen to use. Be careful of levels when you are setting up. Set the volume of your i-pod to about 50% and set the input sensitivity to zero, press play on your i-pod and gradually increase the gain on your amplifier input. Hope this helps, Don.
HOW DO I ADD MY I-POD TO THE RECEIVER
You can get the actual I pod dock for this receiver or you can get a cable that has 2 male rcas on one side and then a 3.5mm male plug on the other and connect it into any open source on the receiver but doing it this way the ipod will not charge and you will also need to turn up the volume on your ipod so the amp can pick it up
Does not turn on
If there is no reaction at all on standby button, the receiver most likely has a problem with standby power supply or mcu. If you get flashing red standby light, there is a problem with one of the channels or main power supply. Either case you need to bring it to a reoair facility.
It flashes H/P only and no sound at speakers
The problem usually caused by bad connection in headphone jack of the receiver. You need to find a headphones with 1/4 plug and plug it in to and out of the receiver several times. It cleanes internal contacts and you receiver works again. Good idea to put some contact cleaner on the plug. Hope it helps. Let me know.
I have a Denon 1803 AV and the remote is not
Read this procedure to possibly fix the remote:
http://remotes.com/remotes/servlet/rs?a=Display&contents=help_deadremote&uuid=A12963989782821
They also sell replacement remotes.
Zoom in on the picture of the original remote provided on the site (or look at your own) and get the actual remote model number.
or check eBay: search for "(model of the device or the remote) remotes", check the 'include description' box. Usually cheaper than the vendors.

The switching problem: If you mean you wish to change digital input assignment there is no way to do that without the remote. You COULD view the matrix on page 19 of the manual and possibly move your optical device to the default "optical 3" if it hasn't changed. Then you could select "CDR/TAPE3" to hear that attached device.
How do I turn tape
Short answer from personal experience.
There is no way around this part. Get a separate power amp for the 901's if you want to use them in a multichannel way or alongside non-901 speakers.
Connect the Active EQ between the pre-outs and the amp input. Run speaker assignment, levels, etc and have fun.
Oh, but you don't have pre-outs. Bummer. Most AVR's will NOT pass digital sources to analog tape outs. Page 40 of the manual confirms that.
no can do. sorry. You need Pre-Outs to feed an external amp.
Denon AVR 1803 Receiver: It will sometimes not
In tv mode the signal that comes from the tv (or box) is stereo; to turn it in surround a special program that transforms it must be activated from the settings.
To activate it press Setup, go down to Auto Surround Mode and set it to ON. Then press the Surround Parameter button till the Virtual is selected.

Denon 1910 Zone 2 no sound
Typically, Zone 2 is for a different program than the one you're hearing in the main listening room. You can choose any source for Zone 2 EXCEPT a digital one.
Stand by /on led lights up but that is it. Click
Check the main power transformer.
ohm out the primary side should be about 2 ohms. and check for 120v ac when you power it on.
If 120v is present on the primary side check for ac on the secondary. if none you need to replace the tranformer.
If it doesn't have 120v ac on the primary there is an open fuse or bad solder connection.
If you find an open fuse check for a shorted output transistor pair.
good luck
