Check the remote control for its infrared emission. Check it with fresh batteries. Check it by pressing all the keys. You can detect the presence of infra-red emission from the remote control, using a cell-phone camera. If you wish to get more details about how to check a remote control, please visit this site. One among the posts has details about it. In some cases, the remote control might need to clean.

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication. You can get an idea about the faulty stage circuit inside the TV, by the number of these blinks. Count it carefully, by switching it ON and OFF, more than 2 times at least, so that, you can make sure about the number of these blinks. If you wish to get more details, check the site linked here. Surf the site in "MOSAIC" view.

It is an indication that you have a problem on the vertical section on the main board.
The faulty parts is the electrolytic capacitor which affect the linearity of the screen that's why you encountered that kind of problem.
I've advice you to send it to repair shop or look for a qualified technician to isolate the faulty electrolytic capacitor and do re-soldering for some dry joints on the main board.Once replaced the capacitor your unit will back to normal again.
thanks for using fixya...
If totally dead check plug fuse, if you get a standby light ,and it wont come on by remote then , it could be power supply a problem, could be capacitors leaky in power supply. not a job for the novice, pete
Sounds like something is getting hot causing voltage loss or drive pulse loss to the vertical IC. Maybe you have a bad solder joint. Try tapping the circuit board around the vertical section. A capacitor could be heating and opening up.

Also you might try using circuit cooler spray and make the problem show up.
I think you're on the right track. It sounds like the problem is in the horizontal deflection circuit or pincushion circuit.Maybe a bad solder connection or a resistor burned loose from the circuit board.
