when you connect your camera to the computer using the usb cable supplied ,the computer will automaticaly detect the camera and the memory card, and open a dolder called dcim, your photos will be in that folder,
i suggest you buy a external card reader which is very cheap these days,as the cable method is little risky in case of breakage of camera side connector breaking off.which happens if you are not very very carful.

The only way that your memory card has a virus is that it was downloaded to the memory card from the computer and no the "virus" would have little to no change of affecting the camera programing.
Format the card in the camera and that'll clean any nasty corrupt files and give you a clean working medium to work with again. A memory card after downloading pictures to the computer hard drive should be formatted not deleting every picture. Deleting doesn't clean and will over time cause some card errors and fail to download and a bunch of other annoyances. If the card is formatted after each download to the computer then this annoyance will be eliminated.
My nikon d 70 freezes after taking 10-20 photos.
Try this: While camera in "ON", remove the battery, wait approximately 30 seconds while pressing the shutter buttn, reinsert battery and turn "Off" then "ON". There is also a hardware reset button on camera bottom. With camera "On", press that button for about 2 seconds. (page 200 in user manual)

Edge to edge focus is an ongoing debate with every photographer that has run into it. A flat field of view is possible if you have deep pockets, a tilt shift lens, view camera in 4x5 or computer programing that will pull this out in post processing. I'm not trying to give you a smart answer but the amount of Barrel distortion and pin cushion effects on an 18mm wide angle lens will be difficult to correct. What I've done with huge groups to minimize the problem is use rows of people Kneeling, sitting and standing to minimize the effect and try to shot it loose then crop in. What this does is uses more of the center of the lens and also use F8 or F11

Flash fires irregularly... good exposures,
If you are referring to the internal flash I would say you are firing the camera faster then the flash can cycle. There is a green lightning bolt that will come on in the viewfinder when the flash has charged. If you fire the first one it may be a charged flash then again you may have popped the flash composed and tripped the shutter before the flash has had a chance to fully charge. You fire again depleting the charge some more and before it has a chance to recover you fire it again so the flash never has a chance to fully charge. You need to wait till the flash ready light come on in the viewfinder.
Using several original Nikon lenses and none of
Insert freshly charged batteris and turn camera "ON". While "ON" remove batteries and press and hold shutter button for approximately 30 seconds. Reinsert batteries, make sure camera is "ON" and press the hardware reset button located on the camera bottom.

Press the shooting mode button (overlapping rectangles) and rotate the main command dial until the self-timer icon (one-handed clock) is showing.

It means that you have a lens with an aperture ring connected and the aperture ring is not set at its smallest aperture.
Turn the aperture ring on the lens to its smallest setting (largest f/number) and lock it if the ring has a lock. Control the aperture from the body, just as you do with a lens without an aperture ring.

In manual exposure mode, set the shutter speed to bulb. This is the next slower shutter speed past thirty seconds. The bulb setting will keep the shutter open as long as you keep the shutter button pressed.
It's easier if you have a remote control. With the ML-L3 wireless remote, you can press the button once to open the shutter and again to close it. Most wired remotes have a lock so you can lock the shutter open until you want to close it.
Battery Door on The D70 is loose, please help...
Can purchase spare door on ebay, just snap it in. But if it is the latch itself, then camera must be dissassembled to fix/replace (very tedious and time consuming and have to be VERY, VERY CAREFUL)

What about the video out facility of D70S
Using the supplied audio-visual cable, you can connect your camera to a TV in order to display your pictures. It basically lets you use a TV's larger screen in lieu of the smaller screen on the back of the camera. It will NOT let you take videos.

You need to try downloading the pics using a separate card reader. If this is successful and your pics end up safe on your computer, then you need to format the card in the camera to completely erase it and optimize it.
