I am getting no power no blue light nothing

Some of these older Olevia's have a "kill" switch on the back, check and make sure this isn't the case with yours. If that's not the problem, I would suspect power supply issues. I would start with checking the power supply for bad capacitors!

After my TV is on for a few minutes the picture shuts off--every aspect of the set continues to work

I would guess your problem is with the power board. Huge wave of bad capacitors are in the market. Just ran into at least two more tonight at work. Easy fix is you have basic soldering skills.

Firmware update Failed

I had the same problem with my olevia 242-T11. I flashed it with the wrong firmware and the TV would not even turn on. The blue LED light would still light up and my PC would still recognize a connection when i hooked it up to the USB cable connected to the TV.

I was fortunate to download the appropriate software. The software is called MTK_DownLoad1.exe. I know this is the correct software to use for Olevia 242-T11 and Olevia 237T. I do not know if this will work with other models.

Here is the link to the MTK_DownLoad1.exe
http://rapidshare.com/files/17475900...load1.zip.html

You will also need to install the USB to Serial driver before you are able to use the MTK Download Utility. The USB Driver is located at
http://rapidshare.com/files/17475900...river.zip.html

BE SURE ONLY TO UPDATE YOUR TV WITH THE CORRECT SOFTWARE OR YOU WILL BRICK IT. I was lucky enough to recover my TV and finally able to upgrade it to the correct firmware but my TV was non functional for about a week and this has been a huge headache and if i could go back in time i would definitely not do it so please ask yourself if its even worth it risking upgrading the firmware of a TV who parent company is reorganizing after declaring bankruptcy.

If you still want to do this, here are the firmwares for all the various Olevia models.

I hope this helps all the people who need to recover / unbrick their Olevia TV's. If the links are down or you need any help please ask for help in avsforums. My id is sammykismail on avsforums and i will try my best to help you.

The information you provide does not allow to automatically nail the board that is causing the problem.Over time information may build up , enough to allow statistical probability of pointing out the source based on this description alone, but as of right now you can't be certain. What I would do is disconnect the backlight portion of the TV from the power board and see if the problem continues. Then I'd take the power board, signal it individually as illustrated in many articles around the net and see if it comes on and stays on.Another approach would be to just start repalcing the suspects.Usually it goes in order of "cheapest to try first in order of likely troublemakers" and that may vary for different TVs and at different times. The power board is always going to be a suspect when an electronic device does not want to come up and as such you may consider the following:http://www.coppelltvrepair.com/p/421/olevia-vle-42fdvldrb-power-board-tested-working-credit-for-old-dudIf you happen to go ahead with it (and even if not) please be so kind to update your findings in this thread so that others after you may use your experience. It takes so little to help each other out!
