Magellan RoadMate 3000T GPS Receiver - Answered Questions & Fixed issues

Power unit up from a completely off state. While it's starting up, hold the Mute and Menu buttons down the entire time. It will start up, then flash. As soon as you see the flash let go of the Mute and Menu buttons. Then, as soon as the lights come on around the unit quickly press and hold the Mute and Menu buttons again. The unit will boot into the Windows CE operating system. You then double click on My Device and delete HDD3 or, if you have a SD card in the slot, cut and paste the HDD3 to the SD card. Power the unit off holding the power button down for 7-10 seconds. Take out the SD card, if you have one in, then power up the unit. It should restart likes it's fresh from the factory. I will not be held responsible for any problems or bricked units! DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!

The System Settings Menu contains system wide customization features which include: Brightness, Power Management, Password, and Language. Rom the System Settings Menu you can change your password. Select Change Password. Use the keypad to enter the desired password. When you have finished, select OK. Re-enter the password to confirm. Use the keypad to re-enter the password exactly as you entered it the first time. When youhave finished, select OK. Select OK to activate the password. To return to the System Settings menu without setting the password, select ESC. Once the password is enabled, you will be required to enter it when the Magellan RoadMate 3000T is turned on or when it wakes up from ?sleep? mode.

i fix these and many other magellan gps daily so when considering my advice , please understand i do not google my solutions.

assuming your car charger is working (the little green light is on) and your magellan still wont start up after holding the power button while its plugged in for up to ten seconds and still does not start..read below

this is actually a very common problem with these magellan power ports...they are poor quality from the factory and always and i mean always fail..the new ports that you find on ebay are 100% better then the factory port.

if your able to replace that power port yourself, you can get one HERE, if not, ask the fellow that sells them for help.

due to some dubious "experts" on fixya, im not permitted to help you directly, but please follow the link above to get further help.

you need to figure out the model number...if its one like the one pictured in your question, then yes it can be repaired if the circut board itself isnt damaged...the ports are available on ebay for about twelve dollars.

the power port is broken inside..this is a very common problem with this model and many others.

you could buy another battery like some other so called expert will advise, but i suspect youll have the same problem after the battery dies.

plug it in to a know good charger(preferably a care charger that has the light built in to tell you its working) then press and hold the power button for up to ten seconds....if it does not start up, its probably because of the power port, but there is allways a chance it could be a faulty board or LCD

you can find the power port you need on ebay..just search ebay for them HERE normally the guys that sell the part will repair them...just ask the ones that are selling the part you need, if they would repair it.

i do repair these and have the part all the time but im not allowed to post direct links to me, but feel free to post back with other questions

I think you have a problem with the charging jack . If you are sure that the jack is OK , then I recommend you to replace the battery .

The LED in the upper right corner seems to be a charging indicator, so this means that the power supply via the cigarette lighter seems to be ok.

To switch it on, press and hold the power button for 3 or 10 seconds (depends on the state of the device - whether in sleep mode or off).

make sure green light is on the car charger and let it plugged in for awhile, then hold the power button (up to ten seconds) until it starts..if that fails

the following magellan800,860,2000,2200t,2500,3000,3050,3100,3140,4000,4040,4050 and the 6000t are known to have faulty dc connectors...if your magellan gps is not charging or will not power up, its most likely the dc powerport...i sell these power ports and will repair them for anyone thats notable to do it themselves.

and the time it estimates from A to B is located on the main screen at the bottom next to the menu ,right side after you plot a coarse.

if your trying to update it, you shouldnt need a disc if your using windows XP or 2000. i do have a copy i could send you though if you feel you really need it. or you can ask magellan for a disc.

not sure how long you have had this, but if the unit was completely turned off or battery completely dead, you have to hold the power button for about 15 seconds for the 3000t to start up...assuming the charge light at the top right is orange (that means its charging) no light means its not charging, green light means fully charged. if there is no power light on at the top right of unit, either the charger is bad or the port on the board is bad (which i do have) good luck and hope this helps. bill

if you havent updated it yet, you can go here for the update for your model..just look up your model on the right side and download your update (you must register on magellangps.com to be able to download)

some portion of the software Has become danaged. you may need to reinstall the system and maps from the supplied CD

you need a RIAA peamp, because level and impedance are too diferents, if you don't have one, you will have to put more volume and get many noise in your case !
