This sounds like a classic thermal overheating problem. Repair or replace

If you are not in a building, or between high buildings, and the GPS device still has antenna problems, you have to assume the device is defect. But most of the time, when the device has no clear path to the satellites, from where it should get its signals, it will say antenna signal missing (or something like that. When you are sure the device has a clear view to the sky for more than 2 minutes and it still is in trouble, assume the antenna or the receiver is defect. Goto a repair shop, or buy a new one.
