You've got two different issues here. Square root of 39 IS the exact answer, as the result will be a surd (an irrational number with too many - or potentially infinite decimal places). If you have been asked to round or show your answer to a number of decimal places then you use the answer toggle (the opposing arrows button above enter) to receive an approximation - a rounded answer (6.24 to two d.p. if you were to multiply these together you will see it is close to 39, but not EXACT, because it has been rounded already). You can also press the answer toggle again to see a longer decimal, but again this is rounded and not exact

I had the same problem. However, I learned: Press the upper light blue button, Reading: 2nd and then press: the ON button. This method shuts mine off.

On the TI-30Xii it means "Statistics Variables." It displays a menu of variables with their values.

We had a similar problem: enter a number like 6.02 [x10n] 23 The 23 is shown as exponent, in small, raised type. How to get out of the exponent is not obvious, but my daughter finally guessed it. The right side of the direction control (>) exits the exponent.

I had the same problem and finally figured out how to fix it. You need to clear the memory. To do so, first press and release the 2nd button at the top left of the calculator. You will see "2nd" appear on the screen at the lower left. next press the 0 button (which 2nd function is "Reset"). The key to making this work is: do not hold the 2nd button while pressing the 0 button. You have to press it, release it, and then press the 0 button.

You must enter 100+10%100 or 100+10%(100). This will give you the correct answer of 110.

To shut calculator OFF press the [SHIFT][AC] key sequence. To prevent the calculator from rounding off, choose the Normal display or the FIX with 3 or 4 decimal digits.

Some high-end calculators have a Computer Algebra System built-in. These systems can do symbolic algebra, that is, with symbols instead of numbers, for example factoring a^2-b^2 to produce (a+b)(a-b). The TI-30x isn't one of them.
