I have found a trick for those bad battery ,but you lose your waranty
you need to open your tomtom , behind the screen you wil find the battery(for the Go 710 it is an 3.7 V ,2400mAh,samsung ICR18650-24)
you find 3 wires : red, black,yellow cut them of at the half of the wire size
, then cut off your car loader wire (tomtom)(5v), you will see again 3 wires inside :red,black,white
connect the red with red, black with black, white with yellow
(the best thing is to make a little hole in the cover to pass the wire, so it will be beter for closing the all thing)
I did it and it works pretty fine ,I had save 30 dollars ;) :D
I did in approximatly 30 min
remember you will have no battery any more and no waranty of tomtom!
It only whorks then with your car loader tomtom

Yes, the reset button is actually a small hole at the base/bottom of the unit. You'll want to use a straightened-out paper clip or something similar to put into the hole and press it for a few seconds (until the unit powers off) .... after you've fully charged your battery.

your rechargeable battery inside has a limited life and has to be replaced when this problem happens.

I will advice you reset the unit, this might help fix the abnormality with the white screen problem. follow these procedure to reset your tom tom gps.
Make sure your battery is charged before you begin. TomTom suggested allowing your device to charge for at least 2 hours before resetting it. Remove your device's SD card from the card slot.
Find the "Reset" pinhole button on the bottom of the device.
Hold the "Reset" button down for 10 to 15 seconds or until your device resets itself. You will need a flattened paperclip or another small metal object to reach inside the pinhole.
Power the TomTom back on and insert your SD Card. You have now reset your TomTom gps and this should fix the white screen problem.

If your tom tom does not seem to charge, then there seem to be a problem somewhere in the unit. You need to run a check on the battery, the charger and the device itself.

First test the charger by trying to use it on another device, if it charges the device, then it is working perfectly fine, but if it does not, then it means the charger is bad and need to be replace with a new one.

Test the battery also, by inserting it into another device, plug it with a well tested charger for about 2 hours to see if it will hold a charge. If it does turn on, then it means your battery is intact, but if it does not, then it means the battery is dead and cannot hold a charge. And the solution to that is for you to replace the battery.

Test the device by inserting a well tested battery in it, and connecting a well tested charger on to it also, if it does not charge, then it means there is a problem with the connection port or something with the device.

After carrying out these tests, you will be able to detect the problem and how to solve it.

if the unit has been unplugged for a while and the battery has gone flat, you will need to hold the on button for a few seconds to re start it. After that , it will be ok. Just a short push of the button as usual

U need a new battery plain and simple.

try re setting the TomTom, reset button is founded on the bottom underneath where the docking mount connect, hold down for 15 seconds, then press the little button on the top on the right side while turning on. worked for me

This is a battery problem . Replace the battery and problem will be solved .
If that didn't solve the problem , then the battery base could be isolated by some stuff . By base I mean where the battery set . Clean the points where the battery and the device connect with a q-tip and alcohol containing liquid.

Your problem might be that the GPS can't get a lock on the satellites and it doesn't know in which part of the world it is.

I suggest you download the latest updates and QuickFix, then leave the unti close to a windows (even if you are indoors). The unit should be able to getn afix on the GPS satellites in less than 15 minutes.

Ok, try a replacement battery. They often cause this problem.

tomtom says it is not possible to change the battery. you can only send it to tomtom during warrantyperiod. the say there is always a possibility to run tomtom on dc, home loader, car loader or dockingstation or pc. sorry.
