try the usb cable to your. this is the recommended method to charge a tomtom when it wont power on. for reasons unexplained by tomtom they do not recommend the car or house charges.

plug it in via the usb cable to your computer for a few hours(make sure the green light is on and nice and bright) then press and hold the power button(this could take up to 20 seconds)

To reset your TomTom device, do the following:

1. Check that the battery is charged properly.
   Charge your device for at least 2 hours before trying to turn it on again. Make sure the charging light on your device is on.
   
   
2. Remove the SD card
   If your device uses an SD card, remove it.
   
   
3. Reset your device.
   Use a straightened paper clip, or something similar, to push the reset button for 15 seconds. On your model, the reset is on the bottom of the GPS.
   
4. Turn your device on.
   Press the On/off button for at least 5 seconds.
   
   
5. Insert the SD card
   If your device uses an SD card, insert the SD card.

If you have an SD card in try removing that before you power up.

You may also want to try the hard reset.

Fix it yourself, you need either a new battery and or motherboard. Relativly easy to do! 10 small torx screws for motherboard and 2 ribbons, then a few more screws and loosen the harddrive and screen for battery

Change the motherboard, green light on and nothing happening is quite common, you can find motherboards on ebay for £22 +p&p.

Its quite easy to do and worth while as the 710 and 910 are still very good units.
