Hey I figured it out. On the top where you insert paper into the automatic document feeder you will notice a small switch. When paper is set in the tray the switch is pressed down. I noticed on mine that the switch had become stuck down. I just used a small push-pin and popped it up. Error message went away.

Are you talking about the document feeder or the copier. On both counts try to clean the rubber wheels above the feed tray, or up on the document feeder with something like windex or a water cleaner. make sure the wheels are dry, and watch to see if the wheels are turning. If wheels are turning when you feed you need new wheels, sometimes you can rough them up with a grit nail file, or sandpaper.

Needs Drum If you pull the drum unit out you will see on the drum different shades of color lighter is wear the lines come from. Buy a rebuilt drum much cheaper and they work, may have to reset the drum count if the change drum lite on...

check the drum cartridge for marks on it, if that dose not fix
is the toner cartridge genuine some remanufacted one are dodgie
the drum cartridge sould last approx 30,000 print outs
the worst case could be your fuser unit. only other option is to clean inside the machine. ps do not touch drum unit, drum
as it will duplicate finger prints and scratches.
