Maybe you have problems with the upper fuser roller, open the back door and try to see the upper fuser roller and lower pressure roller if you see any wrinkles or damage in any of the rollers that's is the problem, you can replace them just the upper fuser roller and the lower pressure roller but it will need advanced skills, the other option is change all fuser assembly but at higher price
You don't necessarily have to reset the toner indicator...you can actually simply reset the flag gear on the inside of the toner it self. The flag gear is a gear that winds down as you use the toner and when it gets to the end, it pops off and your brother printer will NOT print without it being reset.
You can find instructions here. It looks complicated, but is quite easy. I have 11 brother printers in my office and reset the cartridges once they say they are empty. We typically get another 400-800 pages out of them.
http://www.castleink.com/265/cartridge/TN580.pdf Only do the following figures as you are not refilling the toner with ink, just resetting it:
I spend a lot of time with these printers at work and hate them with a passon, they are always breaking.
I have had this same thing happen to me several times and here is how to fix it. This is a fix for the Brother 5250DN.
1: Turn off power and remove toner/drum 2: Tape the little spring loaded lever just inside the printer on the upper left hand side in the *DOWN* position! Do not replace drum yet and... 3: Turn power on to printer and let it cycle. Status/Toner lights will come on as usual. 4: Turn off printer, remove tape from lever, replace drum and turn back on.
Toner Blinking yellow LED indicates that the toner cartridge is nearly empty. Buy a new toner cartridge or refill the cartridge. Refilling the TN cartridges is quite simple and you can do it yourself. It is a very simple process. Please refer to this video.
Let me know if any further clarification/ assistance is required.
Good Luck! Appreciate generously, if the solution could have been of any help! CreativeTECH
You may have to use a true Brother toner cartridge as I have the same problem with me MFC 8500. If I use a compatible cartridge it clicks and if I use a geniune Brothr cartridge it does. Brother direct brought this to my attention.
These printers rely on a manual lever on the side of the cartridge to tell the printer there is a new toner cart. The lever has two arms for the 550 (low yield) and one lever for the high yield cart. It sounds like the gears were not reset on the cart. Is the cartridge brand new, or remanufactured? I can give you more info on how to reset the cartridge.....
Try checking the fuser unit inside the back of the printer. Open the door and pull the paper path tray down. You should see an orange vinyl looking roller. If is has wrinkles it probably needs replacing. I have replaced two on my printers and that corrected the wrinkling problem. You can get them on ebay.
hello Imarsh1
it seems to me that the problem is intermittent.
try removing the toner and the catridge, vaccum or clean toner residue of the visible inside of the printer, just in case is a sensor problem.
also check to see if you have replaced the printer tonner with the right one by checking the model no for compactibility.
Try disconnecting the computer from the printer and shutting it down by removing the power cord and then also shut down the computer for a minute or so and then reboot it and check in "Printers" and see if it has anything waiting to be printed and if so clear out the queue. Flashing green light indicates that the printer is receiving data from the computer and/or printing so you shut it all down and cold reboot to clear out the computer confusion in both the computer and the printer.
Have you tried resetting it? I can't remember all the steps, I see some of the other comments have them but just to be sure you didn't miss anything I suggest you download the manual and go step-by-step. You can find one here - Brother HL-2270DW manual
