ViewSonic VA721 17" LCD Monitor - Page 4 Questions & Answers
My monitor isn't showing a picture properly. I
I'm assuming you already tried the brightness adjustment.
From your description, the LCD screen itself seems to be intact. The problem seems to be backlighting which could very well have been damaged by a perimeter impact.
If it's still under warranty, contact the manufacturer. Tell them it just stopped working. Don't elaborate on the details.
If not, find an accredited computer repair shop. It's not a big deal to fix as long as the fix is performed by a trained professional.
Sorry, I wish there was a magic button to push.

Memory Recall OK
it may be due to stuck setting button on lcd monitor or due to faulty circuit ... try to see if buttons are stuck ..nudge them a little to see if that makes a difference otherwise call the company technician.

Monitor stays dim
Chances are it's not the actual CFL back-light bulbs themselves, but the back-light inverter board.
If it was the bulbs you would have not had the "warm up and it get bright" issue.
The board IS replaceable, (as well as the bulbs) ViewSonic charges about $36.00 USD for the board when they have them in stock. (out of stock as of yesterday 11/14/2006)
It should be covered under warranty if you got longer than one year. (I know the warranty was only one year on MY VA800 but I have seen longer offered since i got mine)
Good Luck I hope this helps!

Problm with viewsonic va712b
sounds like the operating mode is at a frequency or refresh rate that is outside the viewsonic operating specifications when in normal mode. possible solution: in safe mode access control panel, system, devices (hardware) and look for display. do a right click and uninstall. repeat right click and "scan for hardware changes". That might reset the monitor operating modes but it also gives you a chance to reinstall drivers. If this does not work, try other monitor crt/lcd to see what happens.
ViewSonic VA721 monitor
this is only an educated guess based on my years of computer and electrinics experiance. I believe the problem is the AC inverter that supplies current to the monitors back light,it powers up and fails. the monitor is working but without the back light you get a blank screen. The problem is fixable, but the delema is that for a technician to troubleshoot and repair the problem may cost as much as replacing the monitor since the prices have dropped so much in the last few years.
