My computer no longer recognizes my Panasonic mini-DV recorder. I am using USB 2.0, but the device manager does not even recognize the camera. I have even tried multiple USB ports, all to no success.

Vista may not support it but you can try some things. oYou may need to simply and very carefully delete all usb devices from device manager and restart so they are reseen and re-installed. usb devices in devices mgr link Google I would take the time to look at some of these help articles to determine how you wish to proceed: more at this link Google this is a differentr camera but may also give some leads to discovering the issue: Connecting Sony Handycam to Windows Vista Via USB usb devices in devices mgr link Google

Can't connect to Windows laptop

You have to use a Firewire cable for your computer or else the cable you are using is of cheap quality and definitely some of the cheap quality cables do not work. What I also know about Laptops or most laptops do not have a Firewire connection so you can not use it on yours if it hasn't got that firewire socket. So you might try using the usb cable which is not as reliable as the Firewire cable. However another solution for this if your laptop; hasn't got that socket is to get to a Desktop Computer and buy a firewire card then put it into your pci socket. Once the picture have been downloaded then you can transfer them to your laptop using a flash disk or an other storage facility.

I don't have any power (battery or power supply)

There is no way you can do that without taking it apart you have to have it unscrewed. Otherwise you have to look for a battery of the same power and connect using wires assuming that your camcorder can open when there is power. The other solution is to buy a universal power supply that can help temporarily to operate the camera fr taking out the tape. You have to be careful though when you use the universal power supply to set the recommended power first which is written under the camcorder. good luck.

This unit will not power

Hi. Inorder for you to check if the unit has the problem is to test the battery and the adapter using the tester. If the battery and power adapter passed then the problem is the unit itself. It could be the mainboard is having the problem.

THIS UNIT WILL NOT POWER

This is usually caused by a failed component in the power circuit within the camera and can usually be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired qualified service technician.

Describe your Panasonic PV-GS35 Mini DV Digital

There was an earlier post that explained the black ribbon between the LCD viewfinder and the body of the camera is split. You would have to buy a new LCD viewfinder for about $90 or send it back to them to fix for around $250. The same thing happened to my camera and I can actually is the split. If you close it down more than half way the picture shows up. I called Panasonic and they said you have to buy the whole LCD, that you can't just buy the ribbon. They don't even have a part number for just the ribbon. Good luck.
