Panasonic AG-DVX100A Mini DV Digital Camcorder Questions & Answers
Warning message
PSD NG is an error dealing with the OIS [optical image stabilization]. It can be fixed, it is not as terminal an error as many have rumored it to be. The caps could be a cause, but very remotely THE cause. You can have the camera sent in to Pani, and they will fix it, and you will get a bill for $300 - $600.
However the main cause for so many of the dvx100 series to have the psd ng error is loose cables. If you feel sure of your self with a screwdriver, tweezers, & forceps, you can make the repair yourself. In simple terms, all you need to do is reseat the ribbon cables. Follow the steps & photos here:

I did this repair with great success. It was a nerve wracking two hours, but I have not had the error reappear since. I got the camera from someone dirt cheap, [read 1/4 value], because of the psd ng error. I made the repair & not only have a fully operational unit with beautiful pictures, but I also quadrupled the value of it.

Showing warning psd ng in dvx102 panasonic video cam
PSD NG means that there is a problem with your electronic image stabilization system.I think Panasonic got stuck with a bad batch of gyros. Take it back if you can, otherwise use lower resolution or hold very still when filming.

It makes a clicking sound
This is normal. The sound is the auto-focus coil moving back and forth. When the camera is powered up, the coil will be energized and will not make the noise.

Camera is cycling through color
Hi.
If the problem happens on all pre-sets, and if it happens all the time, and if the color is shadow-like then the problem is not the digital board trying to balance whites or color, or a progressive scan related problem, but a defective digital imaging sensor (a CMOS sensor in this case, not a CCD like in compact cameras).
If you get weird and incorrect color, and shadow like motion blur, then the sensor that captures light must be replaced. The sensor is located inside the camcorder body right behind the lens.
You can get a quote on repair calling Panasonic at the number listed in manual or in your local Panasonic support website. You can get a quote from a third party service here:

Panasonic dvx1000a has no audio input, for xlr
You have to switch the CH1 and CH2 switches inside the lcd display to input 1 or input 2 to control the xlr inputs. If these switches are in int (L) and int(R) position, then you are adjusting the audio on the CH1 ad CH2 dials below the lcd viewer on the outside of the lcd for the on camera mic. Only use line setting on the front of the camera when you are receiving an audio feed at line level from an audio board. If you set the camera to mic setting, and you are receiving a line level audio signal, you will blow out the audio 0 way too loud, if you are receiving a mic signal and your switch is set to line, you will not be able to hear the mic with the audio Ch1 and ch2 all the way up.

PSD NG
Hello!
You need to disassmble the side which includes the lcd monitor, so you can see the lens and ccd block area. Blow air inside to clean the parts, and reassemble it .If the problem continues please let me know. There's another way then.

DVX100A panasonic camera tape mechanism not working
You can open the cassette cover and spray inside the upper left side of mechanism(closer to the back) with contact cleaner spray, because there is a rec inhibit switch. If it's not damaged and just dirty you solve your problem ,but if is damaged it needs replacement.

Tapes won't Playback in other deivice
Hello!
If the recorded tapes playback ok on the camera and not ok on another devices, you need to readjust the playback on this camera using a tape which playbacks fine on the other devices.
This means that is a small difference on the tape transport.
So when the supply and takeup post rollers readjusted and the audio and video playback are good, then your camera is fine.
